Especially if we send a LB or safety on a blitz, the Oline wont be able to double team Martin, and no Olineman can cover him alone. Martin will be one of the best DT's in the country this year, count on it.lalondtmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08483914028385297333noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440694009017367434.post-88889018760042323282011-08-30T14:29:35.941-04:002011-08-30T14:29:35.941-04:00Thanks for all the good work you put in, Magnus.

With all the talk of 3 technique, 5 technique, weakside, strongside, etc. when a team lines up say strong right and then flip the TE left will the SDE and DT (sorry don’t know the techniques) also flip?

Thanks again.Bobbyhill57noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440694009017367434.post-51441738156677545672011-08-30T09:42:44.444-04:002011-08-30T09:42:44.444-04:00I was up all night wondering who #1 would be. It makes the offseason easier.

I'm excited to see what the coaches will do with Mike Martin.

I'm assuming that the more you move MM around from his natural [and most effective] position, then that necessarily means that the rest of the defensive players must force something to happen proportionately sooner. IOW, if you drop MM back into coverage (the furthest from MM's strengths), then the rest of the defense must force the QB to make a decision (e.g., throw, hopefully right to place where MM is) quick.

--TriFloydAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440694009017367434.post-64090884470383003402011-08-30T08:28:44.389-04:002011-08-30T08:28:44.389-04:00@ Anonymous 8:24 a.m.

Dennis Dixon had a great season in '07 and would have won the Heisman if not for his injury, so I just kind of shrug my shoulders when it comes to the Oregon game.

Regardless, Rodriguez/Robinson made EVERY quarterback look like Dennis Dixon. So I would be glad to have someone as incompetent as Ron English back, although Greg Mattison is a huge step up from English.Thunderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09708792562446136381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440694009017367434.post-31194485758390290122011-08-30T08:24:53.212-04:002011-08-30T08:24:53.212-04:00Great job with the countdown -- it has been enjoya...Great job with the countdown -- it has been enjoyable reading the past few weeks. Like some others here, I agree with placing Martin at #1.

On the subject of DCs, yeah, I'd rank GERG well beneath English, but let's remember that Ron was at the controls when it took at least two quarters (IIRC) to adjust to Armanti Edwards. He was also driving when Dennis Dixon (admittedly, a Heisman-quality QB) was shreddin' the '07 defense.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
