As a running backs coach, you either deserve credit or you don't.

I think Derrick Green has improved this year. Is that Jackson's doing, or do you give credit only to Green? If it's all Green (or Hart), then why have a running backs coach at all?

The offensive line isn't good. No running back is going to look good behind them. Unfortunately, it's been a poor OL for several years out of the last six or so. As far as Michael Cox, Vincent Smith, etc. go, there's no real way for us to know whether playing time was divided up on Jackson's recommendation or that of Rodriguez/Hoke. It's entirely possible that Rodriguez forced Vincent Smith upon us, or that Rodriguez forbade Cox from seeing the field.Thunderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09708792562446136381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440694009017367434.post-35833597960891618622014-10-09T08:31:14.558-04:002014-10-09T08:31:14.558-04:00He just slipped my mind. LB Josh Furman | 6-2 | 202 | Senior | Annapolis, Md./Old Mill/Michigan/Oklahoma State University
Michigan transfer Josh Furman nearly doubled his previous career high by recording 10 tackles and he added two sacks and two tackles for loss as part of Oklahoma State's 37-20 win over Iowa State. Both of Furman's sacks came in the first half and he also stuffed two plays for no gain en route to logging eight total tackles before intermission to set the tone for a strong performance by the OSU defense. On the year, Furman leads the Cowboys with seven tackles for loss, with all seven coming in the last four games.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440694009017367434.post-37649432335927067762014-10-08T00:51:35.971-04:002014-10-08T00:51:35.971-04:00Love the guy but it's probably time to go. Vincent Smith was 5'7" and slow. And remember that you can't blame running backs if the OL is horrible. Fred Jackson may be beyond his time but has seen every thing in football. Maybe when our line is 5th year seniors we should reevaluate. What do you feel about Jackson's real ability as a developer of running backs? Rawls isn't the only example (I think Mike Cox faired well and made the Giants too) after being sent to the pasture by FJ. I would contend that Mike Hart was not developed but was just that good coming in. There are rumors that FJ had a chance to offer Mark Ingrahm but didn't believe he was worth keeping in the State (rumor but he did go to Bama...)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
