Michigan to face Kansas State in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl

Last night Michigan was selected to face the Kansas State Wildcats in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, which will take place on December 28, 2013 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, AZ. It will be broadcast on ESPN at 10:15 p.m. EST.

This particular bowl game was previously known as the Copper Bowl, the Insight.com Bowl, and the Insight Bowl. This will be Michigan's first trip to this particular bowl game, while Kansas State is 1-1 there (a 52-17 win over Wyoming in 1993, a 26-3 loss to Syracuse in 2001). Last year Michigan State beat TCU there in front of 44,617 spectators.

Notable MVP's from the past have included:
  • Vaughn Dunbar and Mark Hagen (Indiana, 1991)
  • Drew Bledsoe (Washington State, 1992)
  • Ron Dayne and Tarek Saleh (Wisconsin, 1996)
  • Aaron Rodgers (Cal, 2003)
  • Marcus Coker and Micah Hyde (Iowa, 2010)
  • Le'Veon Bell and William Gholston (Michigan State, 2012)

I will have a more in-depth game preview in the coming weeks, but here's a quick look at the Wildcats:
  • Record: 7-5 overall, 5-4 in the Big 12
  • Coach: Bill Snyder
  • Leading passer: Jake Waters (59.2% completions, 2198 yards, 15 touchdowns, 9 interceptions)
  • Leading rusher: John Hubert (182 carries, 968 yards, 5.3 yards/carry, 9 touchdowns)
  • Leading receiver: Tyler Lockett (71 catches, 1146 yards, 16.1 yards/catch, 8 touchdowns)
  • Leading tackler: LB Blake Slaughter (103)
  • Leading sacker: DE Ryan Mueller (11.5)
  • Leading interceptor: Three-way tie between Ty Zimmerman, Dorrian Roberts, Dante Barnett (3)
  • Scoring offense: 33.9 points/game (#39 nationally)
  • Scoring defense: 23.7 points/game (#36 nationally)

Hit the jump for an attractive Kansas State fan.

  3. Well, I hope our defense steps up and Borges unleashes his maximum creativity/flexibility. We are getting some flack due to our 7-5 record in year 3 -- beating KSU like a drum would really shore up our recruiting and give us momentum for next year.

  4. I also hope like hell that our guys will be fully healed with a month of time -- We really need Gardner, Ross III, Wilson, etc. at their best.

  5. If the team lays an egg in this game should Brandon demand some changes within the staff.

    I vote YES!
