Gallon took a bit of extra time qualifying academically, but he's in Ann Arbor now and expected to contribute this year. He is extremely slippery and a strong runner for his size. Rodriguez has shown that he wants to get his best athletes on the field, so I don't think Gallon will redshirt. However, Martavious Odoms started for the entire year at slot receiver, and Gallon will have to fight with Terrence Robinson and Roy Roundtree for playing time in the slot. It would be nice if starters such as Odoms, Boubacar Cissoko, and Donovan Warren can save their energy for their respective positions, so I'm hoping Gallon's biggest contribution will be returning some punts and kickoffs throughout the year.
Is Gallon supposed to play a role similar to Harvin's with Florida?
ReplyDeleteHe may eventually, but I think he'll have a limited role this year. So I wouldn't expect any Harvin-like involvement for another year or two. Gallon also lacks the ability to play outside wide receiver like Harvin did and he lacks his top-end speed, so they're different players.
