  1. Thunder: can you elaborate on why Michigan didn't court Dennis Finley more (was he just not interested, or was Michigan more interested in other prospects, especially when they looked at adding a 6th Lineman late?

    1. Michigan didn't offer him until late in the process. I get the feeling that the coaches didn't really expect him to flip. I think it was sort of a "good will" gesture to the coaches at Cass Tech, essentially saying, "We're looking for another lineman. Would your guy Finley be interested? No? Okay, we'll move on to other guys, I guess (like Cameron Hunt and Dan Samuelson, whom we secretly like more)." I wasn't that impressed with what I saw of Finley, so I'm not too concerned with why they didn't put the full court press on him.

  2. I'm going to be interested to see what happens with Cameron Dillard. He's a guy that was highly ranked and highly recruited (check his offer list - it's more impressive than anyone on this list), but the local powers didn't seem interested. It sounded early on that if Michigan offered he'd jump on it but they never did.

    1. I'm curious to see how he does, too, but his offer list isn't more impressive than David Dawson's (USC, Ohio State, Alabama, etc.). And it's tough to say what Elmer's and Morris's lists would have looked like. In Morris's case, he's been committed since May 2011, so not many offers (if any) have been added since then.

    2. It does seem strange at first glance that he got so many offers from so many PAC12, SEC, and ACC programs like: Oregon, Washington, both Arizonas, Florida, Miss St, Missouri, Arkansas, Florida St, Virginia Tech, and Clemson yet none from Michigan, MSU, or ND. I'm not bemoaning him not getting offered, it's just really strange when you look at it. His only B1G offer was Indiana.

    3. Yeah, you're right about Dawson's being better. Doesn't get much better than that for any recruit.

Dillard's is probably the second best in the state. I'd rather have Elmer, Morris, and Lewis than Dillard for sure, but he does have a stand out list relative to where he is ranked on that list. Interesting thing is that he was somewhat public about his Michigan interest (not unlike Morris), but Michigan offered Morris early and that was that, whereas Dillard wasn't offered by M and the other schools came calling.

  3. I think Dillard is considered to be a top center prospect to those teams. Michigan has Patrick Kugler for in line to be the center in the 2013 class. I woudl definitely take Kugler over Dillard.
