The Butkus Award watch list for 2013 was released on Monday, and there are several players of note to Michigan fans:

Max Bullough - Michigan State
Carlo Calabrese - Notre Dame
Glenn Carson - Penn State
Dan Fox - Notre Dame
Anthony Hitchens - Iowa
Christian Kirksey - Iowa
James Morris - Iowa
Ryan Shazier - Ohio State
Prince Shembo - Notre Dame
There's also a Butkus Award given to high schoolers, and a watch list that includes 2014 commit Michael Ferns III, along with a bunch of other Michigan targets.
Seems like Max Bullough has been at State for like a decade.
ReplyDeleteIn 2011, we had a top-20 defense without having any first-team All-Americans, nor any defenders winning these awards. Let's hope we can replicate that this year.

DeleteThere are a lot of good LB's in the B1G this year.
If he were healthy I'd think Ryan would be there. And if he can continue to show what he did in the spring, I could see Ross deserving a spot too. I was so excited to see both Ryan and Ross on the field at once this year, it seems like ages since Michigan had more than 1 play maker on defense at once.
