2014 Offer Board updates

With the 2014 recruiting class filling up fairly quickly, here's a look at the uncommitted prospects and where they are likely to end up at this time. As always, things are subject to change. I used recent interviews, 247's Crystal Ball, and a couple educated guesses to fill out the list. Feel free to discuss or cuss me out in the comments.

  1. I would be more than ok with this finish to the class. What makes you think the coaches can reel in both of their safety targets?

    1. I think the coaches want the two defensive ends (Hand and McDowell) but would pursue others if those fall through. Michigan definitely wants one safety, and then I think they could take the "best available" prospect after that. If it's a safety like Nicholson/Smith or a linebacker like Dwight Williams, I think the coaches would be open to it. Plus Smith could play wide receiver, too, so he has some flexibility.

  2. I will ask Dave Brandon to pay Hoke and co. 1 mil extra if they can get those 4.

  3. What makes you think Michigan can pull John Smith? I thought he was a long shot for us. I'm interested to hear what gives you this vibe.

    1. I consistently see Smith being very excited about the prospect of visiting Michigan. Other schools aren't mentioned with the same enthusiasm and certainty. I won't be entirely surprised if he goes elsewhere, but I think Michigan has a good shot.

  4. You seem to be alone on JuJu. If you'd prefer not to say that's cool, but what's the deal there?

This would be Michigan's best ever recruiting class were it to go this way, right?

    1. I'm not sure where Michigan would end up in the sites' recruiting rankings, but it would seem to be the most individual talent Michigan has brought in if they get all these guys.

  5. Also, I have heard the Lattimore prefers to play DB in college. Would this change anything for his recruitment?

    1. I still think he would pick Ohio State, but I'm not 100% tuned in to his recruitment because I don't think Michigan is a serious contender.

  6. I thought Parker was high on Michigan...why Vanderbilt?

  7. From your keyboard to God's ear.

I finally got around to going through Safety video. Picking up Nicholson and Smith would be a magnificent thing, we'd have a cupboard full of big, fast, physical safeties the likes of which we haven't seen around here since Earnest Shazor. Of the two, I think I might like Nicholson just a little bit better. He is a big kid with wheels that likes to hand it out in a big way, then if he gets the football in his hands he's another kid that sees the cuts and just runs away from people. I'd be excited over either, ecstatic over both.
