  1. What's the general sense about Harris once he hits Big 10 competition? Is he going to light up whatever competition he faces? Or will he come back to "merely good" at that point? Thoughts?

    1. That's really difficult to say. Who knows? But he's been tearing up the teams in his area since his freshman year. Obviously, he's not going to be averaging over 10 yards/carry when he gets to college, but he's considered to be a 5-star or high 4-star prospect, so people must think he's pretty good.

  5. Those numbers are ridiculous. When he gets to Michigan, him and Green will be great together.

    1. Well, so far Green has shown no signs of being great, despite the hype, so I'll wait for Harris to actually do it on the field here before I get excited. There seems to be a persistent idea among the Michigan faithful that all that's needed for us to have a great team is to recruit top 10 classes and throw them onto the field, but that's a very mistaken notion. Texas and USC are prime examples that it isn't that easy. Both of those schools recruit lights out, but have struggled mightily on the field in recent years. Player development, fitting your recruits into an effective system, and game coaching and preparation are vital, and that's what Hoke and Co. Have yet to show that they can do at a top 10 level.

    2. I've been impressed with Green so far in his limited action this season. He has held onto the football, and when he doesn't get hit in the backfield he has often fallen forward and gotten a few extra yards. He has generally shown off good vision with a few exceptions. Overall what you'd expect from a freshman RB of his size/skillset. He's not going to set the world on fire this year, but he has shown signs of looking solidly above average (I'd rank Fitz Toussaint as slightly above average).

    3. Derrick Green looks like he looked as an underclassman in high school. He ran tentatively, wasn't decisive in his cuts, etc. Add to that the fact that the coaches are clearly harping about ball security, and he's just not running naturally right now. I wasn't high on Green when he was a sophomore/junior in high school, and he's sort of reverted to that running style. Once he gets comfortable with Michigan's plays, system, the speed of the game, etc., I'm hoping/assuming he'll run like he did as a senior in high school - with authority and decisiveness.

  6. Just wondering. Due to the fact that Andrew stepped down, is there going to be no more interviews with recruits?

    1. Interviews have fallen off partly due to that reason. Right now I don't have time to attempt any interviews myself, and the new guy we brought on has been having trouble contacting people. I hope to get them started again, though.

  7. Well, he sure made up for last week's relatively subpar performance!
