Nick Baumgardner
put together a piece on Michigan's jack-of-all-trades Roy Manning, who has helped to coach the offensive line, linebackers, and now cornerbacks at Michigan.
Hit the jump for Candice Swanepoel at the beach. (The third picture is glorious.)

Hey Magnus
ReplyDeleteWas looking forward to you ripping into some of the posters on the mgo-thread the other day, "Why Roy Manning is the new QB coach."
What are your thoughts on the move?
I think he's a great recruiter, being the youngest out of all our coaches by quite a bit, there's no question there. But what do you think about him coaching CBs this year, as opposed to OLBs last year, after RBs the year before for Cinci?
I thought about it, but some other people seemed to have it handled.
DeleteI'm totally fine with it. Cornerback is a great deal about athleticism, and the technique can be taught to those guys. Manning played defense in college and the NFL, and he seems to be a bright guy. He's coached a bunch of positions (RB, OL, LB) and done pretty well at each spot, so I think this position move is being overblown by a lot of people.
Only thing that worries me about the move is Hoke's motives behind it. I think he finally realizes how hot his seat is, and this is a bit of a desperation move. Changed defensive scheme, shuffled coaches, hired new OC - that's a lot to alter if we were on the right path from the get go.
DeleteI'll take door #2 Alex.
ReplyDeleteWhen is a door, NOT a door? When it's Candice Swanepoel on the beach.
Looks like career grooming to me. Both sides of the ball. D or O coordinator and head coach in the future.
