2014 Season Countdown: #83 Chris Fox

Chris Fox
Name: Chris Fox
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 310 lbs.
High school: Parker (CO) Ponderosa
Position: Offensive guard
Class: Redshirt freshman
Jersey number: #73
Last year: I ranked Fox #93 and said he would redshirt. He redshirted.

There isn't much to say about Fox at this point. He tore his ACL toward the end of his senior season and his conditioning went south, so redshirting as a freshman was a no-brainer. Partly because of that, he finds himself behind several of his classmates. Fox does not appear to be on the two-deep and will probably be watching from the sideline yet again this year. It may be a long road for him with so many young players having earned experience last season. Backup right guard Joey Burzynski is the only senior on the offensive line, so the guys who are in line to start have two or three years remaining. While Fox came in to college expecting to play tackle, he was playing guard in the spring.

Prediction: Backup offensive guard

  1. Fox looks like a bust and the double whammy here is that, at a time when we badly needed OLmen, the coaching staff showed poor evaluation both of the individual and the class (in only taking 4 OLmen.)

    1. Check back in two years before calling the kid a bust.

    3. I thought that Fox had some pretty good HS tape. He was a very active DL despite being such a big kid. It's unfortunate that he got injured and ballooned up prior to arriving at UM. Have a feeling the the OG spots will won't be completely settled, so there may be an opportunity at some point in the season. But the fact that he was recruited as an OT but now is 100% at OG is not a great early indicator. The coaches are desperate for anything resembling an OT.

    4. A redshirt freshman who couldn't work out or practice because of an injury is a bust? Jesus christ, lighten up, the kid has FOUR years of eligibility.
