I agree 100%, the calls were terrible; but you can't blame the refs for blowing a 9 point second half lead with Okafor and Winslow on the bench for a good amount of it.
Horrible calls? Really? On the play where Winslow's foot was out of bounds, it was because he was pushed out and it should have been 2 FT's. The instant replay didn't reflect enough to overturn the call. Wisconsin got the majority of the calls in the game, especially the horrendous touch foul calls against Winslow and Okafor that majorly impacted their playing time. Bottom line is that the best team in the nation won the National Title. If Wisky and Duke played 10x's, Duke would win all 10. Duke was the most battle tested team in the country and took on all comers. They beat Wisky (twice), Sparty (twice), UNC (twice), won at Virginia, won at Louisville, and won at Syracuse. John Calipari should take some tips from Coach K and try to play teams with an actual pulse. Then maybe his team would have been battle tested.
First of all, the step-out was not a push, it was clean D in the lane and he stepped out. It was also before the 2:00 mark, so not able to be reviewed. The missed review was pretty blatant when Winslow clearly touched the ball last, but Duke still retained possession. At best, those were make-up calls. Regardless, they DID affect the outcome of the game as Duke scored after both possessions and Wisconsin did not have the opportunity to. That was a potential 8 point swing, which would have been the difference. You can't honestly say that those were the correct calls.
Speaking of bad calls - going back to the NC game a couple of years ago. Trey Burke with the clean block on the layup...that call was potentially a game-changer. Bad refs seems to be a staple of college basketball these days.
This is why I don't watch basketball except very occassionally and never with any passion. This happens all the time. Who can stomach this crap? It makes the game irrelevant. I almost laugh when I see highlights of one team jumping around after a big win of a game officiated like this. It's literally a joke!

DeleteKentucky had a few (Kansas, Texas, UNC, Louisville) preseason wins. I'd say at least some of those teams "had a pulse."
