ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016
Vienna (GA) Dooly County defensive end Antonneous Clayton was offered by Michigan. He's a 6'4", 218 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss, among others. He's a 247 Composite 4-star, the #9 weakside end, and #110 overall. He's a very raw player but has an explosive first couple steps. He's a long shot to even make it to Ann Arbor and wants to decide by the end of the summer.
Dade City (FL) Pasco cornerback Jayvaughn Myers was offered by Michigan. He's a 6'1", 185 lb. prospect with offers from Auburn, Florida, and Florida State, among others. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #38 cornerback, and #439 overall. As a junior in 2014, he made 31 tackles, 5 pass breakups, and 1 sack. He claims a 4.5 forty. Myers was in Michigan for the Sound Mind Sound Body camp at the beginning of June. He is the half-brother of Tampa (FL) Catholic wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers, who is considered by some to be the top receiver in the 2016 class. Florida State probably has the best shot to land Jayvaughn.

Upper Marlboro (MD) Riverdale Baptist cornerback Sir Patrick Scott was offered by Michigan. He's a 6'1", 175 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona, Cal, Iowa, and Kentucky, among others; he has named Wake Forest his favorite. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #40 cornerback, and #456 overall. Scott was in the state of Michigan for the Sound Mind Sound Body camp at the beginning of June and Michigan's summer camp the next week. He's somewhat stiff for a corner and would probably play the boundary or perhaps move to safety.
Miami (FL) Miami wide receiver Keyshawn "Pie" Young was offered by Michigan. He's a 5'11", 175 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and LSU, among others. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #60 wide receiver, and #365 overall. As a junior in 2014, he carried the ball 73 times for 629 yards and 8 touchdowns; he also caught 11 passes for 140 yards and 5 touchdowns. He can be a little bit brash on the field, but he is elusive, has good speed, and could potentially play cornerback at the next level, too. His film is pretty fun to watch if you click on his name above.
OFF THE BOARD
Exton (PA) Downington East tight end Cary Angeline committed to USC. His commitment was a bit of a surprise, since 87% of the 247 Sports Crystal Ball picks were for Penn State and 13% were for Notre Dame. Angeline seemed like a guy who was going to stay on the east coast, but I guess not. He has been climbing up the rankings and at 6'7", 230 lbs., he will be a huge target for the Trojans.
Farmington Hills (MI) Harrison defensive end Khalid Kareem committed to Alabama. His commitment was also a little bit of a surprise, because the recent information had suggested that he was leaning toward Michigan. While Allen Trieu of Scout said that Kareem had been a silent commit to Michigan, he was not one of the silents I knew about and other recruiting guys have said the same. Michigan's coaching staff simply felt confident that he would pick the Wolverines. While he is the #185 player nationally, I have been saying for a while that I believe he is overrated, and I think Ron Johnson, Jr. is a better prospect. There's a chance that Michigan would not have accepted Johnson's commitment if Kareem had picked the Wolverines.
Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy safety Spencer Perry decommitted from Florida and then committed to Notre Dame. Perry originally came from Alabama before transferring to IMG Academy. He's a 3-star, the #28 safety, and #501 nationally.
Baltimore (MD) Gilman offensive tackle Stephen Spanellis committed to Virginia. He's a teammate of new Michigan commit Devery Hamilton, but Spanellis was never very high on Michigan.
MISCELLANEOUS
Camden (NJ) Camden wide receiver Brad Hawkins set his announcement date for Friday, July 3. He is a teammate of Ron Johnson, Jr. Michigan and South Carolina comprise his top two schools.
Philadelphia (PA) Imhotep tight end Naseir Upshur set an announcement date for August 8. He took a visit to Michigan from June 24-26 and set the announcement date immediately afterward. He also announced a top eight of Alabama, Arizona State, Florida State, Maryland, Michigan, South Carolina, Temple, and USC.

Thunder, do you know what was up with all of those rumblings coming out of King a couple weeks ago?
ReplyDeleteI don't know exactly what went down, but the gist is that Michigan has made up ground with Donnie Corley. I think somebody kind of blew it out of proportion and started intimating that he was going to commit to the Wolverines, but that does not appear to be imminent. Tyrone Wheatley has done a good job of repairing some of the fractured relationships there, and Michigan might be the beneficiary. Corley has offers from all over the place, so he could go out west, down south, etc. He is/was thought to be leaning toward Michigan State, but they now have three wide receivers in their 2016 class.
DeleteI don't have a strong feeling that Corley will pick Michigan, but you never know. The mended relationships could pay off in the future, though, because King puts out talented players on a yearly basis.
