Recruiting Update: August 3, 2015

Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy tight end Isaac Nauta
COMMITMENT
Upper Marlboro (MD) Riverdale Baptist cornerback Sir Patrick Scott committed to Michigan (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD (SORT OF): 2015
Dallas (TX) South Oak Cliff running back Jordan Stevenson was not admitted to Wisconsin, so he became a "free agent" over the last couple weeks. Wisconsin's stringent admissions standards were reportedly a big reason why head coach Gary Anderson left town for Oregon State in the off-season, and perhaps Stevenson was a casualty of that system. It's not clear whether Michigan offered him or not, although there was word the coaching staff would be in contact. Regardless, he went ahead and committed to Nebraska, so he will still be wearing red and white in the Big Ten.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016
New Orleans (LA) Riverdale defensive tackle Tyrus Butler was offered by Michigan. He's a 6'2", 300 lb. prospect with offers from Mississippi State and Tulane, among others. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #114 defensive tackle, and #1893 overall. As a junior in 2014, he had 67 tackles, 30 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks. New offers to defensive tackles may mean that the coaches don't want to put all their eggs in the Rashan Gary basket.

Amarillo (TX) Amarillo defensive tackle Ivory Jackson was offered by Michigan. He's a 6'3", 275 lb. prospect who committed to Texas Tech in early June; he also has offers from Kansas and Kansas State, among others. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #88 defensive tackle, and #1513 overall. As a junior in 2014, he made 74 tackles and 6 sacks.

Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy tight end Isaac Nauta decommitted from Florida State. Michigan has always been in his top group, and he has maintained that he will take an official visit to Ann Arbor, so this would seem like a good thing for the Wolverines. However, he is expected to commit to Georgia, which is where he played high school ball before transferring to IMG Academy in the off-season. And in even more damaging news, now the Seminoles are looking for a tight end, which might push them ahead of Michigan for Philadelphia (PA) Imhotep tight end Naseir Upshur, who had been thought of as a Michigan lean. Upshur has since postponed his announcement date of August 8th.

Hit the jump for a couple new 2018 offers, some guys who went off the board, and some random bits.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2018
Tampa (FL) Jefferson wide receiver Jermaine Eskridge was offered by Michigan. He's a 6'3", 185 lb. prospect who committed to Kentucky at the end of July; he also has offers from Florida, Florida State, Miami, and USC, among others. 247 Sports recently named him the #2 athlete in his class and the #26 prospect overall. He could play wide receiver, tight end, outside linebacker, or defensive end at the next level, depending on how his body fills out.

Harrisburg (PA) Central Dauphin defensive end Micah Parsons was offered by Michigan. He's a 6'3", 225 lb. prospect with offers from Michigan, North Carolina State, Penn State, Rutgers, and Temple. 247 Sports recently named him their #3 overall player in the 2018 class. As a freshman in 2014, he was all-state and made 121 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 18.5 sacks, and 1 defensive touchdown.

OFF THE BOARD
Moultrie (GA) Colquitt Country linebacker Ja'Quain Blakely committed to Tennessee. He had not shown much interest in Michigan.

Honolulu (HI) Kaiser offensive guard Michael Eletise committed to Arizona. Michigan was an intriguing offer to him, and the Wolverines had him near the top of their offensive line board, so this is a bit of a blow to their recruiting efforts.

Naples (FL) Naples running back Carlin Fils-Aime committed to Tennessee. There were mixed reports about whether Michigan had offered him or not, but he had mentioned Michigan in his top group. The 247 Composite 4-star and #11 running back chose the Volunteers, though.

Allen (TX) Allen cornerback Jaylon Jones committed to Ole Miss. He's a teammate of 2016 offensive tackle Greg Allen, who recently decommitted from Texas A&M. Alabama and Ole Miss were the reported front-runners for Little, so perhaps Jones's commitment to the Rebels might give them an edge.

Lawrenceville (GA) Archer safety Isaiah Pryor, a 2017 prospect, committed to Ohio State. Pryor - who is not related to Terrelle, as far as I know - was very high on Michigan early and visited multiple times. The Wolverines had a bit of buzz going at Archer, where 2016 offensive tackle E.J. Price and 2017 cornerback Jamyest Williams also play; however, Pryor is a Buckeye, Price says Michigan is out of his top three, and Williams didn't include Michigan in his top ten.

Florence (AL) Florence linebacker Erroll Thompson committed to Mississippi State. Michigan had told him that he could be a two-way player at fullback and linebacker, and he had been planning to visit Michigan for the BBQ at the Big House, but the commitment timeline squashed the trip. His 2017 safety teammate, J'Marick Woods, still attended the BBQ. Steve Lorenz of 247 Sports still thinks Thompson will visit Michigan at some point if they continue to recruit him.

MISCELLANEOUS
Here's a list of prospects who attended the BBQ at the Big House over the weekend (LINK).

Mesquite (TX) North Mesquite offensive tackle Jean Delance named Michigan to his top five. That top group also includes Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, and Texas A&M. Of players considering Michigan, Delance would be the top lineman my wish list. He's a legitimate left tackle prospect.

Elk Grove (CA) Franklin cornerback Lamar Jackson named Michigan to his top ten. The U.S. Army All-American is expected to choose USC when all is said and done, but Michigan has a good chance to get an official visit out of him.

Michigan quarterback commit Brandon Peters announced that he'll play in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, where he will join fellow commit Ron Johnson, Jr. (LINK).

  1. Looking at that picture: Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy tight end Isaac Nauta

Comment: I see why Coach is recruiting Florida so intensely, the players in that photo look like College players compared to the HS kids in Michigan.

    1. Not that this should change your opinion, but that picture is from when Nauta was playing at Buford High School in Georgia. He has since transferred to IMG Academy in Florida.

  2. Lots of names dropping to Ole Miss again.
