Orchard Lake (MI) St. Mary's punter Tommy Doman committed to Michigan on Thursday night. He picked the Wolverines over offers from Boston College, Colorado State, Washington State, some MAC schools, some military academies, and some Ivy League schools.
Doman is listed at 6'3" and 170 lbs. He has the school record for longest field goal (50 yards). On his Hudl page, he claims a 125 lb. bench, a 220 lb. squat, a 185 lb. deadlift, and 12.8 in the 100 meters.

Doman was on Michigan's radar for a while. I had him down on visitors lists a couple times, but as is often the case with specialists, it's never clear when offers are extended, whether they're full scholarship offers, grayshirt offers, preferred walk-on offers, etc. He committed on Thursday night and reports that he will be on full scholarship, which makes sense because punter Will Hart - who came to Michigan as a walk-on - will be a fifth year senior in 2020.

I don't pretend to know stuff about kickers/punters, so here are some highlights and you can watch the ball go real far and stuff.

He averaged 40.33 yards per punt, according to the above video. So . . . yay!

Doman could walk in and take the punting job immediately in 2021. He is committed to the All-American Bowl and one of the top few rated punters in the country, so that should bode well for the future of Michigan's special teams.

Michigan now has five commitments in the class of 2021, and Doman was the second on the day, joining Louis Hansen (LINK). He is the first player from St. Mary's to commit to the Wolverines since linebacker Joshua Ross in the 2017 class.

TTB Rating: Psych!
