Way Too Early 2022 Depth Chart: July 2021

The following depth chart has removed the following players from the 2021 depth chart for various reasons:

  • WR Ronnie Bell (graduation)
  • OL Chuck Filiaga (graduation)
  • S Brad Hawkins (graduation)
  • OL Joel Honigford (graduation)
  • DE Aidan Hutchinson (graduation)
  • DT Donovan Jeter (graduation)
  • K Jake Moody (graduation)
  • P Brad Robbins (graduation)
  • LB Josh Ross (graduation)
  • DT Jess Speight (graduation)
  • OL Andrew Stueber (graduation)
  • OL Andrew Vastardis (graduation)

It also assumes that every currently rostered player and every currently committed prospect will be here in 2022, which is obviously not true.

Hit the jump for the depth chart.

  1. Still have Daylen Baldwin at 2nd string next year.

  2. These are fir 2022? Hassan Haskins will still be startung? Daxton Hill will still on the team? JJ McCarthy will be at 3rd string?
Blake Corum may take over starting at some point this year, won't he?
Alan Bowman may transfer again if he"s not starting in 2022?
And Daxton Hill won't declare for the 2022 draft?

    1. All of those things are possible. I'm not saying they will happen. It's just a look at what could happen.

    2. These things are fun exercises but increasingly fantastical. With more turnover than ever there's not much connection to reality. Even more unknown than usual with turnover on defense coaching and possibly more coming.

It's just for fun but sometimes people take it to seriously and let it feed the "wait till next year we're going to be so good" cycle of hope-delusion. Something like "free beer tomorrow" sign at a bar. You know it's not real but still kind of amusing.

  3. I think Blake Corum is going to overtake Hassan Haskins and be starter in 2022. Hassan Haskins probably belongs at 2nd string. He's a great backup/plan B.
I think Jim Harbaugh is going to have quite the dilemma on his hands at QB in 2022. Both Cade McNamara and JJ McCarthy will be deserving to be starter.
