Sadly, this will be the final recruiting update dedicated to the 2022 class, since National Signing Day took place this past Wednesday. There are still a few uncommitted prospects with Michigan offers, such as Washington offensive tackle Josh Conerly, but any developments with those players will be rolled into 2023 and 2024 recruiting updates.

Quite a fall for Rowser to go from 5 star wanted by everyone to Campbell. I didn't track this one closely so I assume it's something off-field, though I know he also didn't develop quite like some expected.

Michigan offered Beasley before Clinkscale was on the staff.
DeleteLosing Mike Macdonald was a big loss. But I can see why he went back to the pros. But he showed the players a lot.
DeleteBut besides that, I think that the addition of Bellamy, Clinkscale, and Hellow (and Oz), were big factors in the jump in improvement on the defense. They are still there. And now with Mike Elston, I think there's another positive factor added in. I don't know if the defense is going to drop off as much as is feared. In fact, I think there's going to be a step up. The players have spent a year now with the new coaches. They will very likely hit the ground running next Fall.
I think we'll be fine long-term, but losing twin NFL pass rushers was going to set us back next year no matter what. MacDonald leaving as his CFB credentials peaked makes sense
