Wilcox is another high-level preferred walk-on who turned down an offer from Navy to pay his own way to Michigan. A pretty dynamic wide receiver and defensive back for his high school team, Wilcox could play safety or wide receiver at the next level. He's as good as or better than the walk-on receivers who have played at Michigan in recent years. If you watch his highlights below, you'll see some big hits, some nice blocks, and some tremendous balance and change of direction with the ball in his hands.
As a freshman preferred walk-on, he's very unlikely to play in 2022, but he is a guy with the talent to get on the field in the coming years, particularly on special teams.
Prediction: Redshirt
"A pretty dynamic wide receiver" ... wouldn't it be nice if he was to Michigan like Julian Edelman was to New England? Edelman was a 7th round pick out of Kent State, so not a marquee selection. Yet he proved to be an adept receiver capable of getting open a lot. If only Wilcox could be like that. I can dream.
