Way Too Early 2024 Depth Chart: May 2024

The following depth chart has removed these listed players from the depth chart:

  • WR Cristian Dixon (transfer)
  • WR Karmello English (transfer)
  • C Amir Herring (transfer to Kansas)
  • LB Jeremiah Beasley (transfer to Missouri)
  • LB Semaj Bridgeman (transfer)
  • LB Hayden Moore (transfer)
  • CB D.J. Waller (transfer to Kentucky)

I have also added WR C.J. Charleston (transfer from Youngstown State), WR Amorion Walker (transfer from Ole Miss), and K Dominic Zvada (transfer from Arkansas State).

It also assumes that every currently rostered player and every currently committed prospect will be here in the fall of 2024, which is obviously not true.

Hit the jump for the depth chart.

  1. I'm with you on Tuttle over Orji for now but seems like a minority opinion at the moment.

Moore/Morgan/Walker should be an interesting camp battle for the starting spot opposite Morris. Plenty of snaps for all 4 to play though.

I'd put Gentry over Persi for now but doesn't really matter till camp.

With Berry at nickel the safety spots looks SPARSE. Contrast the 2 safety spots with 4 scholarships to the 9 at the two ILB spots. A lot of overlap with Nickel but 3 spots with 6 scholarships is no better. Hello portal!

  2. Tuttle may be the safest bet, but I would imagine a fairly large role for orji ... hopefully he's making progress as a passer

  3. Tuttle is made of glass. He will not last a game. The UNLV hit put him out for a month. One pedestrian hit. Pass

    1. Harsh, but such is reality for the position this year

  4. A recent comment taken from Josh Henschke:

"Donovan Edwards' weight gain was based on NFL feedback he received, hence why he bulked up. Seems as if Michigan is fine with the gain and that the overall consensus is that the playbook hasn't changed all that much for him. He'll continue to catch passes."

It seems like the NFL agrees that Edwards's lack of bulk/strength might be a hindrance, and that putting on weight/muscle/strength is a good idea. Hmmm...

  5. Not a surprise. I recall discussing leg strength/drive after his FR year. Same was said about the kid from last year (already forgot his name)
