2024 Ex-Wolverine Updates: Week 13

Here's a roundup of the former Michigan player, former commits, and former coaches (or players-turned-coaches). NOTE: I will not regularly post updates about offensive linemen since stats are minimal and just posting PFF grades is kind of boring, but I did this week just to show who's playing where and what their opening day role was.

FORMER PLAYERS

WR Andrel Anthony (Oklahoma): Anthony has not played since week one due to an injury.

LB Jeremiah Beasley (Missouri): Beasley made 2 tackles in a 39-20 win over Mississippi State.

QB Alan Bowman (Oklahoma State): Bowman did not play in a 56-48 loss to Texas Tech.

LB Semaj Bridgeman (Michigan State): Bridgeman has not recorded any stats yet this year for MSU.

CB Cam Calhoun (Utah): Calhoun made 2 tackles and a career-high 3 pass breakups in a 31-28 loss to Iowa State.

C Zach Carpenter (Miami): Carpenter is Miami's starting center.

WR Darrius Clemons (Oregon State): Clemons made 1 catch for a 4-yard touchdown in a 41-38 win over Washington State.

WR Karmello English (West Georgia): West Georgia went 4-7 for the 2024 season. English was second on the team in receptions (49), third in yards (704), and fourth in touchdown receptions (2). He also was the team's leading punt returner with 18 for 130 yards.

TE Louis Hansen (UConn): Hansen made 2 catches for 33 yards and 1 touchdown in a 31-24 loss to Syracuse.

WR A.J. Henning (Northwestern): Henning made 4 catches for 16 yards and 1 punt return for 27 yards in a 50-6 loss to Michigan.

OG Amir Herring (Kansas): Herring is a backup offensive guard for Kansas.

TE Matt Hibner (SMU): Hibner made 3 catches for 35 yards and 1 touchdown in a 33-7 win over Virginia.

LB Nikhai Hill-Green (Colorado): Hill-Green made 6 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 quarterback hurry in a 37-21 loss to Kansas. (Hill-Green also noticeably made 1 interception in each of the previous two games, when I wasn't posting updates.)

K Cole Hussung (Louisville): Hussung is a backup kicker for Louisville.

WR Giles Jackson (Washington): Washington (6-5) had a bye. Jackson has 68 catches for 663 yards and 2 touchdowns receiving this year; he also has 4 rushing attempts for 16 yards and 1 score.

WR George Johnson III (FAU): Johnson made 1 catch for 6 yards in a 39-27 loss to Charlotte.

DE Aaron Lewis (Rutgers): Lewis made 5 tackles and 1 sack in a last-second 38-31 loss to Illinois.

QB Cade McNamara (Iowa): McNamara did not play due to a concussion.

LB Hayden Moore (Washington): Washington (6-5) had a bye. Moore is a backup linebacker who has not recorded any stats this season.

S Jordan Morant (Mississippi State): Morant did not record any stats in a 39-20 loss to Missouri.

S R.J. Moten (Florida): Moten made 1 tackle in a 24-17 win over Ole Miss.

DT George Rooks (Boston College): Rooks did not record any stats in a 41-21 win over North Carolina.

S Keon Sabb (Alabama): Sabb has not played for the past several weeks due to injury.

LB Deuce Spurlock (Florida): Spurlock has yet to record any stats this season.

OT Jack Stewart (UConn): Stewart is a backup offensive lineman for UConn.

RB C.J. Stokes (Charlotte): Stokes has not played for the past seven weeks due to injury.

WR Jake Thaw (Delaware): Thaw completed 1/1 pass for 15 yards and caught 4 passes for 21 yards in a 38-28 loss to Villanova. The Blue Hens went 9-2 and Thaw had 1/1 completions for 15 yards; 2 carries for 6 yards; 41 catches for 334 yards and 5 touchdowns; 2 kickoff returns for 15 yards; and 5 punt returns for 108 yards.

LB Joey Velazquez (Ohio State): Velazquez did not record any stats in a 38-15 win over Indiana.

TE Dan Villari (Syracuse): Villari had 1 carry for 2 yards in a 31-24 win over UConn.

CB D.J. Waller (Kentucky): Waller has not seen action over the past three weeks.

LB Cornell Wheeler (Kansas): Wheeler made 9 tackles and 1 tackle for loss in a 37-21 win over Colorado.

FORMER COMMITS

DE Collins Acheampong (UCLA): Acheampong has yet to record any stats this season.

LB Aaron Alexander (Michigan State): Alexander did not record any stats in a 24-17 win over Purdue.

WR Markus Allen (Eastern Michigan): Allen had 9 catches for 187 yards and 1 touchdown in a 37-20 loss to Buffalo.

DE Ethan Burke (Texas): Burke did not record any stats in a 31-14 win over Kentucky.

LB Tyler Martin (UMass): Martin made 6 tackles in a 59-21 loss to Georgia.

OG Micah Mazzccua (Nebraska): Mazzccua is a starting offensive guard for Nebraska.

DT Davonte Miles (BGSU): Miles did not record any stats in a 38-13 win over Ball State.

TE Andrew Rappleyea (Penn State): Rappleyea did not play in a 26-25 win over Minnesota.

S Myles Rowser (Arizona State): Rowser made 4 tackles in a 28-23 upset win over BYU.

DE Elias Rudolph (Miami): Rudolph did not record any stats in a 42-14 win over Wake Forest.

DE Jacob Smith (Kentucky): Smith did not record any stats in a 31-14 loss to Texas.

LB Jaden Smith (Kentucky): Smith did play in a 31-14 loss to Texas.

DT Jerod Smith (Kentucky): Smith made 1 tackle in a 31-14 loss to Texas.

DT Joel Starlings (North Carolina): Starlings has not played in the last seven games for UNC.

DT Alex VanSumeren (Michigan State): VanSumeren made 3 tackles and 0.5 sacks in a 24-17 win over Purdue.

DT Denver Warren (Sam Houston State): Warren made 6 tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss in a 21-11 loss to Jacksonville State.

LB Raylen Wilson (Georgia): Wilson made 1 tackle in a 59-21 win over UMass.

FORMER COACHES

Don Brown (Head Coach, UMass): Brown was fired after ten games with a 2-8 record this year.

Ross Douglas (Wide Receivers Coach, Syracuse): Douglas is in his first season coaching the receivers at Syracuse under new head coach Fran Brown.

Jedd Fisch (Head Coach, Washington): Washington had a bye. Fisch and the Huskies are 6-5.

JaRaymond Hall (Asst. OL Coach, Wayne State): Hall is now the assistant offensive line coach and director of recruiting for Wayne State under head coach Tyrone Wheatley, who recruited Hall to Michigan in 2017.

Scot Loeffler (Head Coach, BGSU): Loeffler has won five straight games to move to 7-4 on the season after a 38-13 win over Ball State.

Curt Mallory (Head Coach, Indiana State): Mallory and the Sycamores finished the season on a three-game losing streak for a 4-8 overall record on the year.

Jim McElwain (Head Coach, Central Michigan): Central Michigan beat Western Michigan 16-14 and the Chippewas sit at 4-7 on the year. McElwain announced he would be retiring from coaching after the season.

Desmond Morgan (Defensive Assistant, Memphis): Morgan is a defensive assistant at Memphis this season.

Biff Poggi (Head Coach, Charlotte): Poggi was fired after going 3-7 to start the season. He attended Michigan's victory over Northwestern this past weekend.

Denard Robinson (Running Backs Coach, Lead Prep Academy): Robinson has been hired as the new running backs coach at Lead Prep Academy in Michigan.

Rich Rodriguez (Head Coach, Jacksonville State): After starting 0-3 this season, Rodriguez has rattled off eight straight wins for an 8-3 record. The most recent is a 21-11 win over Sam Houston State.

Roy Roundtree (Wide Receivers Coach, Miami-OH): Roundtree is in his first season at Miami-OH as the wide receivers coach.

Tyrone Wheatley (Head Coach, Wayne State): Wheatley finished the year on a two-game win streak with a 30-14 win over Northern Michigan.

  1. Well, the Don Brown era at UMass comes to an end. His overall record there was ... not good: 6 wins, 28 losses. I just looked at the UMass schedule for the past several years, and in some ways they had a fairly tough schedules all three years. Their wins were Stony Brook (2022); New Mexico State, Army, Merrimack (2023); and Central Connecticut and Wagner (2024). Their losses over those three years included UConn, Mississippi State, Auburn, among others. It almost makes me wonder if D1 is the place for that program.
