TTB Ratings Update: January 25, 2012

Kyle Kalis is Michigan's top-rated recruit, according to me.

Within the last several months, I instituted a "TTB Rating" system that is somewhat unique to the site but also broader than the recruiting sites' ratings and more specific to Michigan.

Below you'll find updated ratings for each player.  The ratings with a strikethrough are prior, outdated ratings.

  1. What the heck happened between you and Kaleb Ringer?

  2. Interesting -- these are most at variance with Rivals, Scout, etc. in the cases of Chesson, Mario, and Blake Bars. Will be interesting to see how it turns out ...

Just curious: What about Kaleb Ringer makes him a 39 (and twenty points beneath the next-lowest). I haven't watched any of his clips, so I'm asking out of ignorance.

    1. Yeah, I like Chesson more than the recruiting sites. I think Ojemudia will be good down the road, but he's a bit of a project. And I think Bars might get lost in the shuffle.

I think Ringer might get lost in the shuffle, too...and I'm afraid he might be a guy who doesn't last all four years.

  3. Thats awful harsh on a four star recruit that is enrolling early.

    1. Ryan Mallett enrolled early. So did Austin White. So did Tate Forcier. Enrolling early has no effect on what I think of them as future players. And neither does star rating.

  4. Just curious in the cases where your rating changed heavily (Clark, Cheston, Ringer, Bars, B olden, and maybe Richardson) whether we might get a new analysis too.
Especially as Clark's initial review was incredibly pessimistic and you didn't have enough footage to really rate A J Williamson. If not that's cool too.

    1. I plan to put up an explanation of a few of those guys tomorrow or Friday, whenever I get a chance to type it up. I won't write up a full scouting report on each one, but I'll at least explain what changed since the time when I initially rated them.

  5. Interested to hear your thoughts on Chesson tomorrow; you must really like him!

  6. Are you saying that a player like Ringer would be much higher rated if a couple of our other LB recruits decommit? If so, how would you rate him w/o taking into account the depth chart?

    1. He would be higher rated, but not "much." As you can see, he was never very highly rated to begin with. And no offense, but I'm not going to rate him without regard to the depth chart. I only want to rate guys once and not get into a bunch of different hypotheticals, scenarios, etc.

  7. Is the Blake Bars playing center something that you think will happen or heard will happen? If he is capable that would help our depth dramatically. Also, that would let us take another top T/G prospect for 2013.

    1. I've heard it's a possibility. Nothing is set in stone.
