It's pretty impressive that John Navarre's school record is still standing since 2003, even after the rule changes that have favored passing offenses. Rich Rodriguez's super-speed spread came and went, and Michigan has had seasons where they need to throw the ball all over the place to try to catch up, and the record still belongs to Navarre.

  1. It's actually kinda sad that the record still stands. Gotta be more than a dozen around the country who pass for more

  2. We've never really had a coach that wanted to throw it around. Sure Yost, but that was maybe 8-12 passes tops, which was craziness back then.

Rich Rod spread to run, the pass was the deterrent. Moeller opened up the offense some, but he was never a throw it first guy, Lloyd had a gaggle of great lines and really good tough backs, it's remarkable that Navarre got the yards he did.

Then, the "have to be able to run it in November" thing is real, particularly if you are wanting to beat the buckeyes, as we have recently seen.
