2015 BBQ at the Big House Visitors

Detroit (MI) King wide receiver Donnie Corley
Michigan's coaching staff will be holding the annual BBQ at the Big House on August 2, 2015. The tradition was started by Rich Rodriguez and has normally been held in July, so this is a later date than normal. It could get interesting seeing how many players can travel from a long distance, because high school football practices usually begin at the start of August. Regardless, there are several players scheduled to attend, including a posse from Maryland and the New Jersey area.

2016
Ben Bredeson - OT - Hartland (WI) Arrowhead: Bredeson committed to Michigan in June (LINK).

Donnie Corley - WR - Detroit (MI) King: Corley is a 6'2", 180 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Tennessee, and USC, among others. He's a 247 Composite 4-star, the #18 wide receiver, and #114 overall. Reports differ on how seriously he is considering Michigan, but Michigan State and Tennessee seem to be high on his list.

Terrance Davis - OG - Hyattsville (MD) DeMatha: Davis is a 6'4", 305 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Maryland, and Michigan, among others. He's a 247 Composite 4-star, the #2 offensive guard, and #76 overall. He has been rumored to be a silent commit to Michigan, but Maryland and others are in the mix. UPDATE: Davis did not make it to Ann Arbor.

Hit the jump for several more prospects, including kids all the way through the class of 2019.

Name:
 Terrance Davis
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 305 lbs.
High school: Hyattsville (MD) DeMatha
Position: Offensive guard
Class: 2016

Notes: Holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA, and Virginia Tech . . . ESPN unranked OG . . . Rivals 4-star, #5 OG, #124 overall . . . Scout 4-star, #10 OT, #71 overall . . . 247 Sports 4-star, #3 OG, #148 overall . . . Teammate of 2017 RB offeree Anthony McFarland, Jr.

Strengths: Huge body . . . Size is college-ready . . . Understands angles . . . Has good feel for sealing off defenders . . . Decent pass protector . . . Understands stunts and maintains pocket integrity . . . Too big and sturdy to bull rush . . . Moves feet consistently in pass pro

Weaknesses: Poor footwork . . . Too many false steps . . . Plays too upright . . . Stands straight up at the snap . . . Mediocre athlete . . . Lacks straight-line speed . . . Also lacks lateral agility when working up to second level . . . Reaches too much . . . Needs to work on hand placement . . . Gets out-leveraged by smaller opponents . . . Does not finish blocks consistently

Projection: Offensive guard. Davis has a great body for the college level, but his athleticism doesn't match up. He has some bad weight on him, and a college strength and conditioning program will obviously help. But he needs a lot of technique work in the run game, and he plays too high to be very successful, which can be a difficult problem to fix. Davis needs to be in a pro-style system where his size and strength in confined spaces can be an asset. Frankly, I believe the three sites to have ranked him so far have placed him too high on their lists. He is certainly an FBS prospect but has somewhat limited utility until he refines his technique and gets in better shape.

Reminds me of: Brett Gallimore. Perhaps this is an odd comparison, but Gallimore was a 6'5", 290 lb. offensive tackle in high school who was a Rivals 4-star, the #10 tackle, and #96 overall. He was large and pushed people around, but a couple years ago when I was reviewing the class of 2004, I looked back on his film. And boy, oh boy, he was a big kid who just didn't understand leverage, moving his feet, etc. I think Davis is a bit more refined, but Gallimore is who I was reminded of initially. (For those who don't remember, Gallimore spent four years on the team, barely played, and left the team when Lloyd Carr did, forgoing a fifth year.)

Likelihood of committing to Michigan: Strong. Davis has been tweeting about Michigan a lot, loved his visit this spring, has 56% of his Crystal Balls in favor of the Wolverines, and wore Michigan gear to camp last weekend (with his mom wearing a matching "M" cap). If National Signing Day were today, there's a very good chance he would be signing with Michigan.

Michigan's spring game will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2015. Jim Harbaugh has announced plans to draft up teams, which will take place this coming Saturday, March 28. Spring games usually attract a lot of prospects, and Michigan already has some good ones lined up to visit.

2015
Commits:
Andrew David, Karan Higdon, Shelton Johnson, Tyree Kinnel, Grant Newsome, Grant Perry, Nolan Ulizio, Keith Washington, Tyrone Wheatley Jr.

2016
Toks Akinribade - RB - Brownsburg (IN) Brownsburg: Akinribade is a 6'0", 210 lb. prospect with offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan, plus a bunch of MAC schools. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #63 running back, and #797 overall. As a junior in 2014, he had 220 carries for 1,579 yards and 15 touchdowns. He won't be in town for the spring game, but he visited on Tuesday and was offered by the Wolverines while in town. His high school teammate is 2017 quarterback Hunter Johnson (see below).

Austin Anderson - OG - Mineola (TX) Mineola: Anderson is a 6'4", 285 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Michigan, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, and TCU, among others. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #74 offensive tackle, and #846 overall.

Riley Anderson - OG - Mineola (TX) Mineola: Anderson, Austin's twin brother, is a 6'5", 285 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Michigan, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, and Ole Miss, among others. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #76 offensive tackle, and #877 overall.

Chris Brown - S - Houston (TX) Alief Elsik: Brown is a 5'11", 183 lb. prospect with offers from Houston, Louisville, Michigan, Purdue, and others. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #56 safety, and #855 overall. As a junior in 2014, he had 45 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 5 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and 5 pass breakups. Recruiting Update: November 18, 2014

Long Beach (CA) Poly cornerback Colin Samuel
ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2015
Long Beach (CA) Poly cornerback Colin Samuel was offered by Michigan. He's a 6'2", 186 lb. prospect with offers from Boston College, Illinois, Purdue, and UCLA, among others. He's a 247 Composite 3-star but unranked in the position rankings. He has been hit with a flurry of offers the past few days, which indicates that he sent out some impressive senior film. Indeed, Samuel is big, fast, and aggressive with good hips; unfortunately, he is pretty raw and does not have great instincts. Samuel is a teammate of 2015 corner Iman Marshall, who has tentative plans to visit Michigan but seems likely to end up at USC. Michigan has had some success in the past at Poly, which sent Donovan Warren to Ann Arbor.

Hit the jump for a slew of 2016 offers, a 2017 offer, and some miscellaneous tidbits.
