Jordan Paskorz |
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 251 lbs.
High school: Gibsonia (PA) Hampton
Position: Tight end
Class: Redshirt junior
Jersey number: #94
Last year: I ranked Paskorz #75 and said he would be a bench player. He played in one game on special teams.
I swear on Bo Schembechler's grave that this is just a coincidence, but this is the third consecutive year I have ranked Paskorz at #75. Weird, eh? Anyway, Paskorz was recruited as an outside linebacker, but moved to tight end in spring of 2012. There he remains. After not sniffing the field for his first two years on campus, he finally got some special teams action against UMass last year . . . only to be relegated to the bench for the rest of the season.
After seeing Paskorz in spring games for the past couple years, I think it's fairly safe to say that he's just not a Michigan-caliber athlete. The Wolverines are low on tight ends with size now that Mike Kwiatkowski graduated, so Paskorz could earn a role as a third tight end in short yardage or possibly an injury replacement if A.J. Williams gets hurt. However, he's probably not a long-term solution at the position, and I would not be surprised if he departs after the 2013 season.
Prediction: Tiny bits of playing time as a backup tight end
One more in a long line of RR-recruited, low-rated tweeners who never found a real position where they could contribute. I give him credit for sticking around, at any rate, and if we get a little depth at TE from him, well and good.

ReplyDeleteIsn't now? Or never was?
I went back and read the scouting report for Paskorz. He was a 3-star DE supposedly well suited for the "quick" position in a 3-4. Was it a case where he might have done well in a Big East 3-3-5, but not well in a Michigan 4-3? Or a case where he might have developed into a Michigan athlete but lacked the drive?
Hard to say. Never forget that these are 18, 19, 20 year old kids going through a huge transformative experience that has nothing to do with football. It's a bit amazing sometimes that as many of them do as well as they do.
DeleteThis seems WAY low to me. He should be ranked in the 50s IMO. Michigan uses TEs extensively and there's just not enough bodies who are ready to play. Moore and Kwiatkowski are gone and Funchess remains a work-in-progress for a substantial chunk of the playbook. I guess you think some of the freshman will play but I don't think they'll be big enough.
ReplyDeletePaskorz, entering his RS Jr year and settling into the position, will play some meaningful snaps as part of the TE rotation. I doubt he catches more than a pass or two, but Al Borges is addicted to using blocking TEs and there just aren't many other options.
Early contender for the Quentin Washington Award for most underranked.
