What's your objection to Michael Rosenberg? Before your post I had never heard of him (I don't read SI). But for you to start your post by stating your dislike means you have a serious objection. I'm just curious more than anything ... his style? Some articles he's written? Something else?
Rosenberg was one of the two reporters responsible for the "journalism" that resulted in NCAA sanctions for Michigan stretching 20 minutes past the allowable limit during the beginning of the RichRod era. Despite being a Michigan grad, he sabotaged the program since he was a Carr loyalist and hated RichRod (supposedly). Most die-hard Michigan fans during that era have stopped reading the Detroit Free Press and following Rosenberg and Mark Snyder in general.
I'm assuming this isn't sarcasm and that you really don't know anything about Rosenberg. If that's the case, go back about five years and look for some trash that appeared in the Free Press about abuses in the Michigan football program. Then watch the damage that was done to the program by stories that were characterized by major falsehoods and the complaints of some disgruntled former players.
But honestly ... I recall the scandal ... but I never paid enough attention to the Free Press writers behind it. I moved out of Michigan in 1994 and haven't bothered with either the Free Press or the Detroit News since. I no doubt saw Rosenberg's name in other reporting on the scandal, but my focus was more on the impact on the program and not the scandal-mongers who stirred it up.

DeleteMicheal Rosenberg is the one who blew the Michigan practice scandal way out of proportion. Made it sound much worse to public than it really was.
ReplyDeleteAre you serious? Or you fainted when that happened and now got totally blanked?
ReplyDeleteWow...that last photo is amazing. Chaps? I'm getting "chapped" at home later... :P
ReplyDeleteI suppose I could have Googled the name.

Sorry ...
Ignoring the local rags is a good thing and demonstrates an ability to discern competent news writing, or in this particular case, the lack thereof.
