Terry Richardson |
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 174 lbs.
High school: Detroit (MI) Cass Tech
Position: Cornerback
Class: Redshirt junior
Jersey number: #13
Last year: I ranked Richardson #85 and said he would be a backup cornerback. He played in eight games.
Here we are again at the Terry Richardson post, in which I say "WTF?" Richardson was listed at 172 lbs. last year. That is not a good weight for a college corner, even though it's the heaviest he has been since he was roaming the halls of Cass Tech. Two other Cass Tech corners were higher than Richardson on the depth chart (Jourdan Lewis and Delonte Hollowell), and Michigan had three fourth-year guys at corner who have all since departed (Hollowell and Raymon Taylor to graduation, Blake Countess to Auburn).
Those departures seem to be good news for Richardson, but looks can be deceiving. Michigan brought in Stanford corner Wayne Lyons to start on one side, Lewis returns on the other, Channing Stribling has played a fair amount ahead of Richardson, and the spring showed that redshirt freshman Brandon Watson is probably a superior option, too. As a redshirt junior, Richardson is running out of time. He starts the new regime with a clean slate, but barring any unforeseen roster changes or injuries, he's probably a backup for good.
Prediction: Backup cornerback
Time in 8 games isn't terrible. Did he have anything to show from it?
ReplyDeleteIt's so depressing to see these highly ranked recruits underperform. With Richardson it seems like it's always come back to his size. Well I don't think we'll have that issue with harbaugh. He likes his big corners
ReplyDeleteHe gone.
ReplyDeleteHe played in 8 games? Not sure I noticed that. Special teams?
