Frisco (TX) Lone Star safety Jordan Deck flipped from Baylor to Michigan on Wednesday night, less than a month after committing to the Golden Bears. Other schools who threw their hat in the ring were Auburn, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas A&M, and more.
Deck is listed at 6'1" and 190 pounds. As a junior in 2024, he made 42 tackles, 1 sack, and 12 pass breakups. He had 5 interceptions as a sophomore in 2023.

Deck was offered by Michigan in May of 2024. While things did not seem to heat up initially, there was then a stretch a time of time where it seemed like he was leaning heavily toward the Wolverines. When the spring came around, he took official visits to Colorado, Penn State, Michigan, and finally Baylor. Baylor has openly stated their willingness to lure plays with NIL deals, so it seemed like their NIL pitch being the last one Deck heard on the weekend of June 20 led to his commitment. But once a few weeks went by with a chance to reconsider, Deck went back in the direction that a lot of people expected him to go over the winter and early spring.
The first thing that sticks out about Deck is his physicality. He's a very willing tackler and does a good job of wrapping up ball carriers and using leverage to get underneath offensive players. He takes good angles when running the alley, keeping his outside shoulder free to force runners toward the help. He has nice instincts and anticipation when it comes to playing short passes and the run game. His size is also a plus, as he's over 6'0" and has a solid frame at 190 pounds to potentially play at 205-210 pounds.
One reason I appreciate Deck's instincts is that he doesn't have the quickest feet or acceleration. He's a player who probably fits best as a strong safety who plays in the box, helps with the run, covers the flat, and covers tight ends. His hips are a little bit tight and his lack of standout speed looks like it might be a disadvantage if he has too much area to cover on the back end.
Overall, I think Deck is a solid prospect who slots in somewhat like what Quinten Johnson turned out to be (but bigger) or what Makari Paige turned out to be (but smaller). I don't necessarily see him as a top-level prospect, but if his intelligence and instincts hold up at the college level, he can probably do some things like what we saw from Paige over the past couple seasons, where he can play some strong safety or even nickel.
Deck joins cornerback Dorian Barney and safety/corner Andre Clarke, Jr. as commitments in the defensive backfield for Michigan in 2026. Deck would be the first Lone Star High product to suit up for the Wolverines.
TTB Rating: 75
Yep that's a pretty good endorsement. Sounds like a high floor low ceiling type. Do-everything versatile DBs like Johnson/Paige are so valuable to a defense especially after they get comfortable and experienced and provide rock solid reliability in their senior and grad seasons.
