Marchese took an official visit to Michigan back in May and was close to committing, but he had pledged to Georgia in March and stuck with it. When Zion Robinson and Travis Johnson started wavering a little bit toward the end of the early signing period, Marchese became an option again. And once it was clear that Robinson was going to flip to Stanford, Marchese pulled the trigger on the switch.
I mentioned on Twitter that I like Marchese a lot and think he could be an early contributor. Considering the guys currently on the roster, I would probably put him in the slot for 2026 a good deal. He's going to need to add some size and strength so he can block when necessary, but he has the speed, change of direction, and ball skills to make plays over the middle, up the seams, and on quick screens. He also has upside as a kick returner and punt returner; with Fred Moore leaving the team, I'Marion Stewart unable to stay healthy, and Semaj Morgan's inconsistency, Michigan has a desperate need for help in the return game.
Michigan now has three wide receivers in the class, with Marchese joining Travis Johnson and Jaylen Pile. Marchese is the second Georgia commit of the cycle, following offensive lineman Bear McWhorter. He's the first player from Cartersville to come to Michigan.

I've read he's a physical blocker, so that bodes well for early play time. He's also arriving early, so hopefully they can put some meat on his bones
ReplyDeleteat 6'1, we have more evidence that the staff wants to ADD size, but not oNLy sIzE
Just looking at our WR depth chart, this youngster may have a clear path to starting
ReplyDeleteWe have Goodwin, Browder and (maybe) Semaj. After that, it's all unknown guys. No thank you!
After 3-5 DL, bring in a clear WR2 and let the others fight over Slot. Make Marchese earn it
Update priorities for the portal (DL = either Tackle or Edge, just get them both):
