MLive: It was probable Tom Brady was "generally aware" of deflated footballs

The Ted Wells Report has been filed, and it concludes that Tom Brady probably knew that the Patriots' footballs were being toyed with (LINK). This is not surprising in the least, and it doesn't bother me. The NFL needs to have a standard for their footballs, and a rule needs to be enforced or else the rule shouldn't exist. On the other hand, I just don't really care because almost everybody does it. I don't think it's fair to suspend him for it, so hand him and/or the Patriots a fine and move along. These are the little things I don't care about when guys like Leonard Little, Josh Brent, and Donte Stallworth are allowed to make millions of dollars in your league after they kill people on the roads.

I'll be honest - as a coach, I like to throw around a slightly deflated ball in practice. I don't check the pressure, but a fully inflated ball is a little harder to grip and control. But the deflation reaches a point where it becomes counterproductive, and no quarterback wants to throw around a floppy football. Tom Brady plays good football, so if the NFL needs to relax its parameters a little to include some slightly "deflated" balls, then I'm okay with it.

Hit the jump for a few good looking ladies.

  1. Wow that first one can deflate my balls anytime!! This whole story being blown up is asinine. There's not enough to suspend him and the other offensive players probably benefitted from it as well. They've probably been doing this for years and I'm sure others have as well. Fine them and take away a draft pick. Then change the ball handling and deflation checking process if it's that big of an advantage.

  2. Two things:

    1. Agree that the Pats/Brady should get a fine and move on. Rodgers admitted to over-inflating balls and trying to get them past the refs. The Panthers previously were caught heating their balls up so that they'd cool and deflate by game time. This is not unprecedented; the response has simply been wildly out of proportion to the act.

    2. In regards to Stallworth, the victim was walking across a freeway in the dark. Yahoo did a story in which they concluded that Stallworth could have potentially been found innocent if he had fought the charges given the circumstances, but that he chose to do what he considered the morally right thing and simply plead guilty to all charges. Not that it wasn't a serious tragedy or that Stallworth hadn't been drinking (he admitted he had been), but it's not like Stallworth ran over someone on the sidewalk or got into a high speed crash on the highway or something.

  3. I suspect some of the 'ladies' have been 'inflated' via a talented surgeons knife. No harm, no foul.
