I don't have a whole lot to say about Dent right now, because I have yet to see any clips of him beyond his sophomore season. I know people in the program are excited about him - as are some "insiders" - but I don't see the full extent of his abilities on that sophomore film. I see a lot of aggression and a guy who can run, but as for his hips, coverage ability, and physical development, I'm not sure how far he has come since 2019. There's a lot to like, and I'm interested to see how he has developed.
Dent has apparently been talked to about being a Daxton Hill-like player by the staff, but that type of talk can be misleading. Of course coaches are going to tell him he can be like Daxton Hill, because nobody wants to be told "You can be like Vincent Gray or Makari Paige."
Dent is the second safety in the 2022 class, joining Kody Jones. While the Wolverines recruit a lot of players from Florida - including another from his hometown, Micah Pollard, in the 2022 class - these would be the first two players from Jacksonville in program history.
TTB Rating: I would like to see more of Dent before assigning a TTB Rating
He looks older than me, and I'm 46
ReplyDeleteYeah, but you're a young 46.
DeleteThree star DB aren't going to make it. Look at the 3 star DB we have playing now. Out of position and can't cover.
ReplyDeleteI think he is a safety prospect. BTW thunder hopefully you read this. Any idea what happened to Andre Seldon? I really thought he would play this year?
ReplyDeleteI know he was dealing with some medical things in 2020 and then again in 2021. I'm not sure if he's back to 100% right now or not, but yeah, I thought he would be playing by now, too.
DeleteI like these kind of hybrid DB recruits that can cover enough to play CB and tackle well enough to play safety. Keep em coming.
