Delonte Hollowell |
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 163 lbs.
High school: Cass Tech High School in Detroit, MI
Position: Cornerback
Class: Freshman
Jersey number: #24
Last year: Hollowell was a high school senior (commitment post here)
TTB Rating: 58
Hollowell is just one of many Technicians to pick Michigan in the past few years. He was Michigan's second commitment for the class of 2011 and never wavered when the old coaching staff was fired in early January.
Hollowell looks like the most likely of the freshman cornerbacks to redshirt. At only 163-ish pounds and having run track this spring, he probably hasn't had much time to bulk up. And college players in the Big Ten generally need to be bigger than 163 to play. A few of these freshmen defensive backs will probably play, either on defense or special teams, but my guess is that Hollowell won't be one of them.
Prediction: Redshirt
I was hoping that this kid might be able to contribute. Apparently, he's got "bleh" speed, but great coverage skills.

ReplyDeleteHe's not super slow . . . he's just not super fast, either. When a kid is undersized and not particularly speedy, I think that tends to be a bad (or mediocre, at least) combination.
WOTS is that T. Richardson is going to take visits though he's "100% committed". I remember you predicated that awhile back, should we be worried?

ReplyDeleteShould we be worried that Richardson might go elsewhere? Perhaps a little. I still don't fully believe that he's 100% Michigan, not only because he's probably going to visit elsewhere...but also because he basically just committed to Michigan because his friends did.
That being said, I doubt a de-commitment from Richardson would have as much of an effect on the recruiting class as, say, a de-commitment from Ross or Jenkins-Stone. If Richardson departs, the other guys would probably say, "Have fun in SEC country." But if Ross or Jenkins-Stone departs, then we might have to kiss the other two goodbye as well.
I try not to get too emotionally involved with recruits until after National Signing Day, because nothing's official until then. I have a feeling that we'll see some ebb and flow before February. The coaches seem to be pressuring kids into committing now or losing their spot...and some of them are bound to have second thoughts.
Yes, best not to get too emotionally involved. I've cried too many times over Cass Tech players! TOO MANY TIMES!!
ReplyDeleteI guess your redshirt prediction was wrong Delonte looked pretty good last year on special teams and I'm sure we'll see more from him this year, GO BLUE!!!
