Hinsdale (IL) Central kicker Micah Drescher committed to Michigan on June 18. He picked the Wolverines over offers from Air Force and Northwestern.
Drescher is listed at 6'2" and 188 pounds. As a junior in 2024, he made 3/5 field goals; the makes were from 47, 37, and 30 yards, and one of the misses was blocked. He made 35/36 extra points, had 42/50 kickoffs turn into touchbacks, and pinned 10 of his 22 punts inside the 20-yard line.

I generally throw my hands up about kickers and just trust the coaches, who have a pretty good track record at Michigan. Chris Sailer Kicking ranks Drescher as the #1 kicker in the 2026 class and says this:
Micah is a phenomenal high school kicking and punting prospect. He is a great looking athlete with one of the absolute strongest legs in America. Micah does an excellent job on the field goal. He hits a pure, accurate ball off the ground and has easily has 55+ yard range. His kickoffs are strong, D1 ready. Micah's best ball measures 70+ yards, with 4.25+ hang time. Also a very talented punter. Micah punts for a nice combination of distance and hang time. A competitor who thrives under pressure. I look forward to seeing what the future holds. Outstanding prospect.

Dominic Zvada will be Michigan's starting kicker in 2025, and beyond that the job is open because Zvada will be graduating (and surely playing in the NFL somewhere in 2026). Stuart Blake, a walk-on who will be a redshirt sophomore in 2026, is the only other kicker on Michigan's roster.
Michigan has had a good number of players from Hinsdale (IL) Central over the past decade or so, but the only scholarship guy was former tight end Ian Bunting, who played some at Michigan and then transferred to Cal before playing a bit in the NFL. Other Central products to wear the winged helmet include WR Brad Anlauf, QB Michael Sessa, and TE Will Sessa.
