Recruiting Update: July 13, 2015

Lakewood (OH) St. Edward cornerback Tony Butler could be Michigan's next commit
Over the weekend, I pre-ordered John U. Bacon's new book. Endzone: The Rise, Fall, and Return of Michigan Football  is available on Amazon (LINK).

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016
Lakewood (OH) St. Edward cornerback Tony Butler decommitted from Pitt. This was a long time in the making, but it was tough for Butler, who said he considered new Pitt head coach (and former Michigan State defensive coordinator) Pat Narduzzi a bit of a father figure. Former St. Edward head coach Rick Finotti is now Michigan's director of football operations. Butler is 6'2", 195 lbs. and is a 247 Composite 3-star, the #57 cornerback, and #622 overall. He is now expected to commit to Michigan at some point (he will visit Michigan this weekend) unless Ohio State swoops in with an offer.

St. Petersburg (FL) Farragut safety Craig Watts decommitted from Wisconsin. Watts is a 6'0", 180 lb. prospect who also has offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami, and Ohio State, among others. He's a 247 Composite 4-star, the #16 safety, and #287 overall. He is not expected to consider Michigan. He just committed to Wisconsin in late June, so this was quite a quick change of heart.

Hit the jump for a couple new 2018 offers, numerous players who committed elsewhere, some news from the Elite 11/The Opening, and some random tidbits.

Recruiting Update: June 1, 2015

Houston (TX) Langham Creek running back Toneil Carter
ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016
Bend (OR) Summit tight end Cameron McCormick, an Oregon commit, was offered by Michigan. He's a 6'5", 230 lb. prospect who also holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, UCLA, and Washington, among others. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #28 tight end, and #625 overall. As a junior in 2014, he caught 35 passes for 491 yards and 8 touchdowns. McCormick is a versatile player who could be an in-line tight end or an H-back, but he's also a playmaker on defense, where he shows nice speed, a nose for the football, and a willingness to punish quarterbacks and ball carriers. He could feasibly end up on either side of the ball. Michigan probably has no real shot at pulling him away from the Ducks.

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2017
Houston (TX) Langham Creek running back Toneil Carter was offered by Michigan. He's a 5'11", 198 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas, and Texas A&M, among others. He's a 247 Sports 4-star, the #3 running back, and #26 overall. As a sophomore in 2014, he carried the ball 189 times for 1,382 yards and 19 touchdowns. Carter has a nice combination of power and speed, and he also shows some nice wiggle in the hole.

Sebastian (FL) Sebastian defensive end Jarez Parks was offered by Michigan. He's a 6'4", 245 lb. prospect who also holds an offer from South Florida. He has a large frame that will probably see him grow into a strongside end or maybe even a defensive tackle by the time he's finished growing.

Hit the jump for some guys who committed elsewhere, some top lists, and some random tidbits.

Michigan's spring game will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2015. Jim Harbaugh has announced plans to draft up teams, which will take place this coming Saturday, March 28. Spring games usually attract a lot of prospects, and Michigan already has some good ones lined up to visit.

2015
Commits:
Andrew David, Karan Higdon, Shelton Johnson, Tyree Kinnel, Grant Newsome, Grant Perry, Nolan Ulizio, Keith Washington, Tyrone Wheatley Jr.

2016
Toks Akinribade - RB - Brownsburg (IN) Brownsburg: Akinribade is a 6'0", 210 lb. prospect with offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan, plus a bunch of MAC schools. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #63 running back, and #797 overall. As a junior in 2014, he had 220 carries for 1,579 yards and 15 touchdowns. He won't be in town for the spring game, but he visited on Tuesday and was offered by the Wolverines while in town. His high school teammate is 2017 quarterback Hunter Johnson (see below).

Austin Anderson - OG - Mineola (TX) Mineola: Anderson is a 6'4", 285 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Michigan, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, and TCU, among others. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #74 offensive tackle, and #846 overall.

Riley Anderson - OG - Mineola (TX) Mineola: Anderson, Austin's twin brother, is a 6'5", 285 lb. prospect with offers from Arizona State, Michigan, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, and Ole Miss, among others. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #76 offensive tackle, and #877 overall.

Chris Brown - S - Houston (TX) Alief Elsik: Brown is a 5'11", 183 lb. prospect with offers from Houston, Louisville, Michigan, Purdue, and others. He's a 247 Composite 3-star, the #56 safety, and #855 overall. As a junior in 2014, he had 45 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 5 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and 5 pass breakups. He will be in town with teammate Dontavious Jackson (see below).

Hit the jump for lots and lots more prospects.

2016 Recruiting Update: January 28, 2015

Manvel (TX) Manvel safety

ADDED TO THE BOARD: 2016
Harbor City (CA) Narbonne offensive tackle Alex Akingbulu was offered by Michigan. Akingbulu is a 6'6", 275 lb. prospect who just finished playing his first year of organized football, and Michigan is his first (and only) offer. Offensive coordinator Tim Drevno is the point man on him, so his west coast connections must have paid off with the little known recruit. Akingbulu does not have much technique at this point, but he is an impressive athlete who moves his feet really well. With a good deal of coaching, he could be pretty special. You might remember his high school from when Michigan was recruiting safety Sean Parker (Washington) in the 2010 class.

Manvel (TX) Manvel safety Deontay Anderson was offered by Michigan. Anderson is a 6'1", 192 lb. prospect with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, and USC, among others. Basically, he can go to school wherever he wants. Michigan recently had a flirtation with his 2015 teammate, cornerback Will Lockett, who ultimately decided to stick to his UCLA pledge. Anderson is an early 247 Composite 5-star, the #2 returner (this is a category now?), and #25 overall in the class. As a junior in 2014, he made 59 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 interceptions (1 returned for touchdown), 8 pass breakups, and 1 punt return for a touchdown.

Concord (CA) De La Salle tight end Devin Asiasi was offered by Michigan. Asiasi is a 6'5", 255 lb. prospect with offers from Nebraska, Oregon, and USC, among others. He's a 247 Composite 4-star, the #10 weakside end, and #148 overall. He's a big kid but someone who can be split out at times, and he even takes an occasional direct snap. Former Michigan (and Idaho and New England Patriots) quarterback Matt Gutierrez was from there, and I recently watched When the Game Stands Tall, a decent football movie about the school, which set the national record for consecutive victories.

Hit the jump for a couple more offers, commitments elsewhere, and some random tidbits.
