I previously posted the all-time career yardage leaders (LINK). Now it's time to reminisce about the best rushing seasons ever in a Michigan uniform. I set out to post the top 25, but going to 33 allowed me to include all 1,000-yard gainers, so I extended the list a bit.

  1. I'm surprised the name Harlan Huckleby is not on that list. But numbers don't lie.

    If memory serves, Russell Davis (#26) was a fullback. I can still hear Bob Ufer in my head: "Two tight ends and a balanced line. Huckleby deep and Davis close. Ricky Leach under center." To get 1,092 yards from the FB position is pretty impressive. But if memory serves further, back in 1977 they were running a triple option, so the FB might have been more of a runner than blocker role.
