  1. What's the difference between the 2 buckets of 5th year players?

Paige announced he is coming back so there is no "if" in his situation.

I'm not sure if Mullings has announced anything. I haven't heard anything about him since Corum and Edwards announced their decisions.

  2. Wondering if there is any 6th year guys other than Q. Johnson who might fit in here. Most of the 2019 recruits elected to go pro rather than use the 6th year (e.g., Barnhart, Jones) but Johnson (like transfers McNamara, Zach Carpenter, Giles Jackson) can. Red-shirted in 2019, 2020 doesn't count, and thus eligibility clock started ticking in 2021 like Edwards/Moore/Stewart.

  3. I said it last off season and it still holds true: the QB room needs attention. 2o22 gave us two projects very unlikely to ever start on a playoff potential team. 2o23 we took a WR. 2o24 is a good pickup that needs a couple years; ditto the 2o25 kid from FL

Go get two from the portal, and hopefully one can do more than hand off

    1. I agree with you on hitting the portal but a lot of guys improve pretty dramatically from year 1 in college to year 4. Patience is warranted with the "projects".

Even JJ McCarthy was a "project" for a year, Cade McNamara for a year and a half, Joe Milton for 2 (or 5 for the skeptics), Joe Burrow, etc.

    2. Patience is a virtue, but you can be patient and look around. The jackrabbit QB, the Liberty guy, even TCUs young QB ... none are in the portal, but it's 2o24: reach out to guys who can come in & compete. IF Denegal is ready to lead a championship run, he'd beat a guy coming in new to the system ... but I doubt he will ever be The Guy. Orji isn't a passer; Davis is too young and needs work. Warren peed down his leg when given a chance

We need competition, and can do better than what's in the current QB room

    3. It Tuttle comes back (not a sure thing), he's probably about as good as most available portal guys.

    4. Competition. It's the Harbaugh way

    5. @Kurt - who is available and who is in the portal now are 2 different things

  4. I have faith that Coach Moore will do the right thing and attack his first year with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind!
