Here were the results:
61% chose freshman Marvin Robinson
34% chose freshman Ray Vinopal
4% chose sophomore Brandin Hawthorne
0% chose Other
My choice would be Robinson. I think Robinson is a better overall athlete than Vinopal. And according to Troy Woolfolk, Robinson was a ballhawk during voluntary 7-on-7s during the summer. However, the coaches have Vinopal at #2 on the depth chart.
Thanks for voting!
TTB, care to speculate on why Robinson hasn't seen the field? Is it possible that, athleticism aside, his decision-making isn't quite there yet?

ReplyDeleteWell, he's only a true freshman. I don't like to expect too much from true freshmen, because there's just a lot to learn and adjust to. He would be buried on the bench behind 2 or 3 guys if this was a team with actual, you know, depth.
But anyway, there were times in high school where I thought he took poor pursuit angles. And while he's a good athlete, he doesn't have great speed. So I imagine that he has some work to do on consistently taking good angles against players who are faster than him, which sounds simple but takes time to learn. And like I said, he's young and just needs to get experience. I think he'll be good down the road, though.
