Michigan's NFL Draft History

Jake Long
Probably like many of you, I occasionally have a hankering for some Michigan NFL Draft history. Below you will find (as far as I'm aware) every pro draft pick in the history of Michigan's football program going all the way back to 1937. The plan is to update this list after this year's draft and keep updating it when appropriate.

Michigan's only two #1 overall NFL Draft picks are Jake Long in 2008 and Tom Harmon in 1941.

  1. Two things jump out at me:

    * Bo's early teams were insanely talented. There were fewer teams drafting back then, too.

    * In the five drafts between 2008 and 2014, there were a total of _three_ first-/second-day guys (meaning rounds one through three). For all their faults, RichRod and Brady didn't have as much to work with as teams in the past. (Aside: I'm sure I could find at least a handful of people on MGoBlog that would argue otherwise, citing the number of Rivals/Scout stars in the recruiting classes. Egad.)

    1. Basically there was a huge talent drain.. Carr's 2006 and 2007 teams had a lot of very talented upperclassmen taking off for the league and (relatively speaking) Rich Rod was left with a bare cupboard. For all their faults, Rich Rod and Hoke had depleted teams.

  2. Great list! Thanks!

Edit to make: Taylor Lewan went to the Titans.

  3. Wilcher and Harbaugh where in the same draft class, interesting.
