"Too many coaches don’t teach, they narrate. You see coaches during practice “You missed the block” or “You dropped the ball.” Don’t commentate, give them the tools to do it correctly. We need John Wooden, not Keith Jackson."Truer words were never spoken.Although I do miss Keith Jackson.
Well you know it's really refreshing to hear a coach of ours talk like he truly knows what he's doing. Awesome stuff
Well, Hoke and his guys talked like they knew what they were doing, too. People on the Michigan boards went gaga over their coach talk, pretty much from day 1. Look how that turned out.I'll wait to see it on the field, in real games against real opponents.
Hoke and Mattison were the only ones I remember being competent. Hoke was a good positional coach, who loved the school and would walk barefoot across country to get here. He was lost in regards to offense, and I don't think anyone would argue that. I also don't think people would criticize the defensive coaching nearly as much as offensive. Yes the defense had issues, but it was one of the lone bright spots on the team.
