Hit the jump for more.
Alan Bowman, QB (Oklahoma State): Bowman and the entire Oklahoma State program had a disappointing year. He was benched at one point, but ultimately, head coach Mike Gundy decided he was the best player at the position and re-installed him as the starter. Overall, Bowman completed 204/340 passes (60%) for 2,423 yards, 16 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and a passing efficiency of 128.33. They finished the season on a nine-game losing streak and the final game was a 52-0 loss to Colorado.
Semaj Bridgeman, LB (Michigan State): Bridgeman played 14 snaps on special teams this past season.
Cole Cabana, RB (Minnesota): Cabana did not play at all for Michigan this past season and transferred to Minnesota after the year.
Cam Calhoun, CB (Utah Alabama): Calhoun made 21 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 interception, and 9 pass breakups while starting most of the year for Utah. He then transferred to Alabama after the year.
Zach Carpenter, C (Miami): Carpenter started all year for Miami and played 841 total snaps, earning a 69.5 grade from Pro Football Focus. He was Honorable Mention All-ACC and received the most votes of any honorable mention center, so he was essentially the #4 center in the conference.

Cade McNamara, QB (Iowa): McNamara completed 104/172 passes for 1,017 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions this season. An injury (concussion) shortened his season, and I'm not sure if he will play in Monday's bowl game against Missouri.

I would have taken Andrel Anthony back
ReplyDeleteI agree with je93
DeleteI have a dumbass question, can Underwood play against Alabama? It came up at a party last night, and I had no clue.
ReplyDeleteNope. Early enrollees can practice with the team, but they can't play in the game.
DeleteFor whatever reason, the name "Giles Jackson" makes me think he's been playing since the Rodriguez years. He hasn't, of course, but it just seems he's been around a long time.
ReplyDeleteYou may be thinking of running back Giles Jackson
DeleteIt does seem weird that Giles Jackson is still in college football, especially because he was an early contributor. It's not like he was someone who redshirted or rode the bench for his first couple years of school.
Deleterent freeeeeeeeeee
DeleteSo Chip Lindsey is the new OC, with Steve Casula as the interim. I know it's not possible (or advisable) to try to install a whole offensive system in a few weeks, but I would imagine some basic stuff could be worked in. Which leads me to wonder: (a) how much involvement Lindsey has had with the team this bowl practice cycle; (b) whether he'll be in Tampa with the team (likely?); and (c) whether he'll be working with Casula to do the play calling, or if he'll be more hands-off for the bowl game.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be good to have Lindsey sitting in meetings and observing and such, and possibly offering input on opponent weaknesses, etc. But ultimately, he hasn't been around long enough to see what players' strengths/weaknesses are and really get good insight into their personalities, mentalities, etc.
DeleteIt's also an interesting professional dynamic, because Casula has been around and was tabbed as the OC for the bowl game before Lindsey was hired, so I could see Casula - who has OC experience at a lower level - being pretty annoyed if his opportunity to call plays got usurped by someone who just walked in the door. It's one thing to let Sherrone Moore have strong input because he is and has been the head coach, but it's another to let a guy walk in the door three weeks ago and then call plays immediately.
So yeah...I think Lindsey's role will be limited, but I'm guessing he's in Tampa with the team and will be at the game. Just like Rich Rodriguez was at the bowl game back when he was hired to take over for Lloyd Carr.
time for an update. Cabana to remain in the state: https://minnesota.rivals.com/news/cole-cabana-signs-with-western-michigan-instead-of-minnesota
ReplyDeleteBeasley made a good choice for himself. I don't think he was going to see any light in the Michigan LB room.
ReplyDeleteCarpenter finally found a home after Michigan and Indiana.
McNamara left the team. Orji is still on Michigan!
