2012 Season Countdown: #77 Kaleb Ringer

Kaleb Ringer
Name: Kaleb Ringer
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 225 lbs.
High school: Clayton (OH) Northmont
Position: Linebacker
Class: Freshman
Jersey number: #49
Last year: Ringer was in high school. He made 59 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 pass breakup while missing several games with a knee injury.

Final TTB Rating: 39

Ringer enrolled early in January, participating in spring practices and seeing some time as a backup in the spring game.  The inside linebacker positions are somewhat interchangeable, and Ringer saw snaps at both WILL and MIKE.  He looked particularly well built this spring and has a physically mature body.

Ringer was recruited as a WILL, and with fellow early enrollee Joe Bolden earning rave reviews at the MIKE position, it's unlikely that both Bolden and Ringer will be needed at MIKE.  Meanwhile, the WILL position is very deep and probably won't require contributions from Ringer unless there are a couple significant injuries or departures.  He could see some time on special teams, but the depth at linebacker places him fairly low on this list.

Prediction: Redshirt

  1. 39?!?! Ha ha ha!! That has to be one of the lowest TTB ratings I've ever seen!

I think he sees the field. He will do it just to outperform his TTB rankings, I just know it.

  2. He appears to have three arms in the picture. That should make him an awesome tackler "in space."

    1. Oh my god it must be true. This picture is undeniable proof. On my authority, Kaleb Ringer's TTB rating is now 99. We must recruit more like him.

  3. In that photo it looks like he has pretty long arms - which could help him a bit.

Ton of LB depth, like you said. If it wasn't for his EE status, I'd have put him far lower on this list.

    1. One recent observer suggested Ringer might even grow into a DE. I think he's probably too short, but we'll see what happens...

    2. That could be. Maybe he's B-Graham - another guy who was a LB in high school and was about the same height. More likely, he'd be a WDE like Clark and Beyer (LB-types).

  4. Why the drop in the TTB rating from a 64 to a 39?

    1. I think he's one of those guys who will eventually get lost in the shuffle at Michigan. Too many good linebackers.
