Name: Dominick Giudice
Height: 6’4″
Weight: 310 lbs.
High school: Freehold (NJ) Mater Dei
Position: Offensive guard
Class: Redshirt junior
Jersey number: #56
Last year: I ranked Giudice #83 and said he would be a backup offensive guard (LINK). He played in three games.
TTB Rating: 58
Two seasons ago, Giudice moved from defensive tackle to the offensive line and played in three games total. Last year he was 290 pounds and played a little bit as a backup; he played offensive line in one game (Indiana) and special teams in two contests (BGSU and ECU). Regardless of how ready he was to play, the 2023 line was tough to break in on because of the presence of so many good, veteran linemen.
This year the line has thinned out a little bit (six linemen from 2023 were drafted or signed by NFL teams), while Giudice has thickened up (290 pounds to 310). Reports out of practices have Giudice in the mix as a backup, but the guard spots are pretty much locked up by Giovanni El-Hadi and Josh Priebe. Raheem Anderson is another experienced interior guy who could factor in at guard (if he doesn't win the center job), so I think Giudice is probably at least the fourth guard, if not lower. But injuries can take a toll on an offensive line throughout a game or a season, so with his added weight, perhaps Giudice will get a little more run in 2024.
Prediction: Backup offensive guard
Good for the senior to be finally drawing some mention from the coaches. Hopefully Priebe and El Hadi are healthy all year and have it covered but even if one of them goes down there are likely better options on the roster.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see him in the starting lineup on NCAA25. ElHadi isn't in the game, so I quickly inserted Raheem at Guard

OVERALL, my top 50 aligns pretty well with Thunder's. There are a handful of guys that I included that he did not that are interesting to highlight. Most of them are ranked in the 40s to be fair so it's not a massive disagreement either.
QB: I include Tuttle and Davis but not Warren. I think Tuttle will have an experience advantage over Warren and expect Tuttle to be QB2 if not QB1b. Davis (97 TTB rank by Thunder) has a talent advantage over Warren that could manifest by the end of the year. Warren will play more snaps most likely than Davis, but IMO there's a greater chance that Davis is The Man late in the year than Warren.
RB: I put Jordan Marshall (TTB rank 73) towards the bottom of the top 50, third highest for RB. The more I think about it, and the more positive buzz he generates in camp, the more likely he seems to be a guy who will ascend to get some meaningful carries and line up to be the heir apparent for RB1 role next season. And if Edwards is dinged at all, Marshall might be drawn in for a playmaking role this year as well. In that scenario, the Hall/Mullings duo may not cut it.
Floor Setting Vets on DL: Iwunnah (TTB 83) and Bennet (TTB 58) are a couple guys who are not likely to be NFL players but I think they are going to have meaningful roles at the end of the rotation. Thinking of Taylor Upshaw and Cam Goode as comparables. Younger guys with more upside will hopefully slide past them, but there's enough DL snaps to go around that they'll still be contributors.
Jalen Hoffman: It seems like he has the backup FB spot locked down and Bredeson projects to seeing a lot more snaps (and thus greater potential to get injured).
Will Johnson vs Graham is a real toss up at the top, IMO. I went back and forth on it. Both are all Americans and 1st rounders but also hugely impactful because if they are hurt suddenly some players who are probably not very good are drawn into playing big role at CB or DT.
DeleteI discounted the safeties as a whole because there is such tremendous depth there. Thank you Portal! Still -- I would have put Rod Moore in the top 5 if he was healthy, because he's that good.
