Name: Breeon Ishmail
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 260 lbs.
High school: Hamilton (OH) Princeton
Position: Edge
Class: Redshirt freshman
Jersey number: #58
Last year: I ranked Ishmail #108 and said he would redshirt (LINK). He redshirted.
TTB Rating: 71
Ishmail was raw and light last year, which led to him redshirting. As a bit of a do-everything guy in high school, he also needed some time to adjust to being an edge player at the college level and focus on refining his technique. On top of that, Michigan had solid depth at the edge positions in 2023, with Braiden McGregor and Jaylen Harrell (both now in the NFL) starting, and Josaiah Stewart and Derrick Moore (this year's presumed starters) backing them up.
This year the depth is more questionable. Stewart had proven himself a competent player at Coastal Carolina, and Moore had already looked good as a freshman in 2022. Outside of T.J. Guy's 81 snaps and Cameron Brandt's 60 in 2023, nobody else really played much last year. So Michigan needs some new faces to step up and rush the passer when Stewart and Moore are off the field. I don't think Ishmail will work his way into the two-deep, but he could be a depth piece or a special teams player.
Prediction: Backup outside linebacker
I'm with Roanman: McGregor should have returned. Probably would have made a lot more money too
ReplyDeleteIt would have been nice for Michigan but I suspect that McGregor is the kind of person who embraces the next challenge and instead of looking for the easiest path. Not everyone thinks that way.
DeleteI never expected McGregor to be drafted even though some see as saw prototypical size and production as major points in his favor. I wish him the best as he tries to latch on in the NFL - Chris Hinton is a recent role model for him. Sometimes these camp invite guys are only an injury away from massive opportunity.
Easy? I don't know what inside information you have, but my bet is sherrone moore's off-season grind is more demanding than the longshot of making an NFL cut ...
DeleteBut if we're using your EA sports metric, McGregor isn't even included in the new Madden release, so there's that
It's easier to make the Michigan football team than an NFL team.
DeleteSome people just want to argue.
McGregor isn't on the roster - why should he "even" be in a video game?
DeleteSome people struggle with separating reality from their fantasies.

Deletefrom the guy so DESPERATE he just posted on threads from last year
Look whose checking obsessively what Lank's been posting. My #1 fan.
DeleteCan't back up his nonsense so time to change the subject. Downright sad.
this is a "garbage" post
Deleteobsessed
DeleteThat's some encouraging weight gain for a potential EDGE prospect relative to when he was a recruit. Hopefully we start hearing some hype about some of these many young EDGE prospects. There's opportunity there with Moore and Stewart potentially being off to the NFL next year.
