Mini State of the Blog

Thanks to Brady Hoke for restoring Michigan's football program.
I would just like to take a moment and thank the readers, commenters, and contributors who spend their time here at Touch the Banner.  With TTB Andrew's help, visits to the site have increased over the past year by more than 700%.  As I mentioned on Twitter, the blog has reached the point where people were e-mailing me on Sunday night asking, essentially, "WHERE'S MY DAMN CHRIS FOX COMMITMENT POST?!"  This after I had written six commitment posts in the previous 32 hours or so (along with, you know, living my life).

I have big plans for the blog, and I certainly hope it continues to grow.  I appreciate the e-mails, comments, tweets, etc., even many of the negative ones.  This past year has been a great one for Michigan football.  I hope 2012 is even better.

Thanks again for reading, and Go Blue!

  1. As a 2004 grad who just became obsessed with the recruiting side of Michigan football recently, thanks for providing what has become my favorite of the Michigan recruiting blogs. You've done great work here.

  2. I'm not surprised that traffic is up as this is an excellent blog. The insight that you provide-- especially in the player scouting-- is outstanding. During this weekend's commitment deluge, I was constantly checking in here to get your scouting reports. You've made this a great place for Michigan fans.

    3. I'm sure it won't be long... I enjoy most of the content on here and, despite my comments, actually agree with most of the analysis. Andrew's been a great addition to bring a different element to the blog. The site seems to be continually improving on all fronts - content, variety, quality, professionalism, etc.

    1. Four or five times a day, huh? It sounds like you're responsible for a good deal of the traffic increase.

  7. Can say that his has become my favorite place to visit daily. I have to check in at least once a day and most of the time 2-3 times a day. This place has been right on point with most of the editorials that are done. Love the recruiting profiles, the commitment posts, the game reviews. Great to see good content without all the nonsense that comes from a forum that is largely unmoderated. Keep up the good work.

  10. I almost never leave comments. But this blog has become a regular stop on my effort to learn all things about Michigan football. The analyses are knowledgeable and helpful. Yes, at times you're caustic -- but somebody's got to be!

    Nice work, Thunder.

  11. Love the reviews, what do you think Michigans chances are with Mike McCray? He looks like a beast

    1. He does look like a good player, but I think he'll head to OSU if they offer.

  13. I'm glad to hear about your increase in readership. I began reading this blog consistently about a year ago. My favorite two things you do are:
    1. Ranking the impact players will have on the season. I really like it when you rank incoming freshmen too low (in my opinion) and I end up being right... Not that I am right most of the time. It just something I enjoy.
    2. The TTB recruit rating system. I value your analysis of recruits as highly as any of the four major recruiting websites.

    Keep up the great work!

    1. 1. I do tend to undervalue freshmen...but I remember a time when freshmen didn't play much. Those were the good ol' days...

      2. Thanks!

  16. Congratulations on the viewership bump! I really enjoy your work, especially the more analytical and critical writing that is not just blind optimism. TTB comes right after MGoBlog on my daily rounds of the Michigan blogosphere! Thank you.

  17. Keep up the excellent work. Love the comments and willingness to offer at least what appears to be a mostly unbiased opinion. Pretty sure I hit ttb & MGoBlog everytime I open my phone browser just to check for new content haha. Anyways, tip of my hat to you good sir for the top notch blog as well as Andrew for his contributions!

  19. Keep up the great work guys. I love the recruiting analysis, especially the fact that you're not afraid to give a fair critique of a player, instead of just a fluff piece. I give as much weight to TTB rating as I do to the star ratings on any of the major sites.
