PennLive: Bill O'Brien, the outsider

This David Jones article is only tangentially related to Michigan, since it involves a coaching change at another conference school. But it also delves into the mindset of O'Brien, who did a solid job at Penn State by most accounts . . . and just didn't fit in. There are some similarities to Rich Rodriguez's situation, too.

Hit the jump for a scantily clad woman.

  1. Seems like there are clear parallels w/ Rich Rod. Both were outsiders who were never really accepted by the insiders. My take is a bit different -- this type of stuff is guaranteed to happen with schools in small towns with a lot of tradition, and that's why those jobs are a bit harder to manage. But as did Bo, coaches can won over the insiders with winning (esp. over archrivals).
