Sunday, March 11, 2012 Spring preview - wide receivers, tight ends

Amanda Helen Tam
Kyle Meinke runs down what Michigan coaches and fans should be looking for from the receivers as spring practices begin soon.

  1. What are the odds Drake Johnson ends up being moved to wideout once he gets on campus? Not that I expect him to see the field this year, but he's got the speed to stretch the field if he has the hands for it.

    1. I sincerely doubt Johnson will play wideout in college. He's a powerful runner who's probably going to be 225-230 lbs. within a couple years. And while Junior Hemingway is/was about that size, that's not prototypical size for a WR. I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility that Johnson becomes a starting RB later in his career, depending on who else is on the roster.

  2. I'm confused. Is Amanda a tight end or a wide receiver?
