Following the combine, NFL.com assigned each participant a number grade (20-100), which corresponds to projections like so:
20 - 49: Free Agent (UDFA)
50 - 69: Draftable Player (4th-7th)
70 - 84: Eventual Starter (2nd-3rd)
85 - 95: Immediate Starter (1st)
96 - 100: Future Hall of Famer (top pick)
Here's how the top two-thirds of Big Ten players who attended the combine stack up to one another. Coincidentally, Martin, Hemingway and Molk are listed consecutively at numbers 21, 22 and 23, respectively.

LOL at Mike Adams. That is quite the drop.
ReplyDeleteTTB, any new thoughts on the prospects of the Michigan trio? Martin seems like far less of a reach than Molk/Hemingway (no offense to either intended), but his number is about the same.
ReplyDeleteNot really. Hemingway surprised a lot of people at the Combine (including me). I still think teams might look at his lack of production and be scared off a little bit, but we'll see. Molk can be good, but I think he needs the right team/system. I wouldn't be surprised to see a team like the Redskins or Texans take a shot at him.
DeleteAccording to the NFL "experts" Nebraska was loaded with top-shelf talent, yet they finished in 3rd place in our division.
ReplyDeleteSo...did Nebraska just underachieve this season? Was the difficult schedule to blame for their (relative) lack of success? The unfamiliarity with B1G teams?
I think it's a little of everything. The Big Ten is a difference conference than the Big 12, so there's bound to be some adjustment. The defenses were a little stouter this season than they had faced in the past. But I also think Nebraska underachieved a bit, especially Taylor Martinez. They need to be a more physical football team, because they got their asses kicked (physically) by several teams, including Michigan.
