AnnArbor.com: Shane Morris struggles at Elite 11

Jessa Lynn Hinton
Class of 2013 quarterback recruit Shane Morris had a tough day at the Dallas Elite 11, but I'm not concerned.  Quarterback camps are somewhat overrated, just like a camp for any other position.  What matters most is how players show when they're wearing pads.

  1. I actually like how disappointed he gets. It shows that he has high expectations for himself, but I even get the impression that he feels he need to be the best player out there when he's wearing Michigan gear.

Not that it matters because we'll love him regardless, but I hope Shane has a better outing at the Columbus camp and gets the invite to CA that he obviously wants.

  2. I like hearing about the velocity he's getting on the balls. Ryan Mallet 2.0

  3. He still placed 5th out of over 100 kids, didn't he?

I guess he was expected to be first, but the kid who got MVP was an unranked dual-threat QB that was picked for his "intensity"

  4. What concerns me a little bit is that the message is becoming a little more consistent: he needs to work in his accuracy. His completion percentage this past year was at 55% and everyone says he struggled with his accuracy. I just think it's a question of taming that arm strength a bit and learning you don't have to fire a bullet every single time. He has the competitive fire and intensity to be great though, I'm excited.
