MLive: Lewan to file with NFL Draft Advisory Board

Jenna Renee Webb
As we all should have expected, Taylor Lewan is filing with the NFL Draft Advisory Board to see if he should leave school early.  My guess is that he will get a first round grade and depart after the bowl game.

  1. I can't blame the guy for wanting to leave early. You're one play away from losing your entire season...ex. Blake Countess and Fitz Toussaint.

    1. I can't confirm this, but it seems to me like Lewan has played hurt in a lot of games over the last couple years. It's common to see him limping between plays. If he is truly a 1st rounder, it wouldn't make sense for him to come back and undergo another year of wear and tear.

    2. I agree; I've seen the same thing. And that's not including the arm-bar put on him by Gholston.

What would an early Lewan departure do for/against Michigan's APR number? I realize that the fears of Michigan being in trouble have been mostly allayed; but if Lewan leaves after four years at Michigan, is he supposed to have completed a degree? He won't stay for four academic years if he leaves the team after the fall '12 semester will he? Is he getting a degree? Did he enroll early as a freshman? (I seem to recall he did.)

  2. how long do you think until the o line hits its stride and how much of a change will we see from the gardner offense that we saw this year to what he will run next year will the offensive productivity go down cause of it or is what we seen in the last 4 games be what we see next year besides the second half of the michigan ohio game

    1. I think the Gardner offense is pretty much THE offense that Borges/Hoke want to run, but I don't think the offensive line will hit its stride until 2014. Next year the guys will be young, and they might still be young in 2014, but the talent should be able to overcome the youth.

  3. You think any freshman have a chance at starting next year

    1. I actually think if any freshman has a chance of playing here it's Kyle Bosch. He's enrolling early and apparently is already huge. Kalis was probably more ready this year, than Bosch will be next year. However, I think there will be even less competition next year. I think Bosch beats Bryant out for the right guard spot, mostly because Bryant is coming off the injury and is unproven anyway. If Dawsom re-commits, which I think he will, I think he would also challenge for that spot.
